Nea - clitoral vibrator discontinued by LELO - review by Breas

Nea is a clitoral vibrator by Lelo. I have the white coloured Nea but it is also available in rose or black. Nea arrived in a white cardboard box. The top of the box states just the company name. The sides of the box state a few of the product features and company contact information. The bottom of the box has a brief product description, states the contents of the box, and has a photo of Nea. Inside of the cardboard box, there is another box! The box inside is black and the only text on it is at the top, which states the company name. This black box reminds me of something you’d get from a jewellery store. It’s durable, elegant, and discreet. The box would be perfect to use to store Nea in when you are not using it.



Inside of the storage box, Nea sits on a raised plastic insert. Beneath the plastic insert is the charger for Nea, a storage pouch, a warranty booklet, instruction manual (printed in 5 different languages), and a sample pack of a water-based lubricant.



Nea is made of phthalate-free ABS (plastic) and is compatible with water, oil, or silicone lubricants. There is no scent or taste to the vibe. Being a hard plastic, there is no flexibility to the toy. Nea has no texture to her body. She is completely smooth and very attractive. Nea has a lovely flower/swirl design on her back in a silver colour. I’ve taken a couple of measurements of Nea but if you need additional measurements, please let me know and I can get them for you.

Nea has a slight curve to her body. She’s in the shape of an oval, with one of the sides of the oval tapering to a point. The tapered point of Nea is the part of the vibe that is used for stimulation. At the opposite end of the vibe, there is a DC socket for plugging the charger into.





The clitoral vibe has 2 buttons side by side. The buttons are approximately ¾ of an inch from the bottom of the vibe (where the DC socket is located). To turn Nea on, you’ll need to first “unlock” her. To unlock Nea, you press both buttons at the same time, holding them for about 5 seconds. Once Nea is unlocked, you’ll see that the lights around the buttons will light up for a moment. The locking feature is really neat because if you’re travelling with Nea in your purse/bag, she won’t accidentally turn on by herself.

Now that we’ve unlocked Nea, we need to turn her on. The button on the left hand side is the “off” button, which also functions as the “decrease” button. The button on the right is the “on” button, and functions as the “increase” button as well. The first mode you’re met with when you turn Nea on is the continuous vibe. To increase the power of the vibration, keep pressing the button on the right until you’ve found your desired intensity level.

The other modes that Nea has (as described in the manual) are as follows:

Mode 2: extended interval pulsation
Mode 3: intermediate interval pulsation
Mode 4: short interval pulsation
Mode 5: before & after

If you’d prefer the pulsation to vibration, hold the button on the right hand side down for 3 seconds. This will bring you from mode 1 to mode 2. To access the other modes, you do the same thing (hold down button on right hand side for 3 seconds). When you’re scrolling through the pulsating modes, you can press the button on the left hand side and you’ll be brought back to the continuous vibration mode. When Nea is turned off and then turned on again, she starts back at Mode 1. To turn Nea off, hold the button on the left hand side for a few seconds and she will turn off. This sounds complicated but once you get the hang of it, it’s easy.

When I used Nea, I tried all of the modes but preferred the first mode (continuous vibrations). For clitoral stimulation, I prefer high power. I increased the intensity as much as I could and got started. There were a couple issues I had while using Nea. Firstly, because Nea is so small, I had a hard time keeping lubricant only at the tapered end of Nea. The toy is not waterproof and I found that the lubricant was getting on my hands and near/on the buttons. If Nea had a longer area to hold on to, this wouldn’t be an issue.

Secondly, the vibrations are in between buzzy and rumbly. Some people may like this but I can’t stand buzzy vibrations. I need the rumble. It took me much longer than a normal solo session would because of this.

There definitely were some excellent qualities to Nea. Nea is very light in weight so for longer sessions, she’s perfect. Nea is quite quiet. On the lower speed of continuous vibrations, she cannot be heard through a blanket. On the highest setting and while she could be heard through the blanket, she could not be heard through a closed door. Another nice thing about Nea is that her vibrations are strongest at the tapered end. The vibrations can be felt at the other end of the vibe but they are much more weak (meaning it won’t make your hand/fingers numb). Lastly, Nea does not heat up during longer play sessions.

The included sample pack of personal moisturizer is 5ml (.17 fl oz). The ingredients are as listed on the package are as follows: water, propylene glycol, hydroxyethylcellulose, aloe barbadenis leaf juice, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, tetrasodium edta, panax ginseng extract, paullinia cupana seed extract, avena sativa bran extract, polysorbate-20, aspartame, polyquaternium-5, peg-45m, and citric acid.

When I had used Nea I used the lubricant. The lubricant is a bit runny (being water-based) but stays slick and lasts awhile. I did not need to reapply the lubricant during play. It does not become sticky/tacky on the skin. It absorbs and your skin where it was applied feels like there was no lubricant there to begin with.

The vibe arrived already charged. Since I had received Nea with a full charge, I’m unable to comment on the charge time. I’ll be sure to include this in my follow-up review though. The instruction manual states that the toy requires a 2-hour charge and will last for 7 hours with this charge. The standby time is 90 days.

When the battery begins to run low, the LED lights around the buttons of Nea will emit a red colour instead of the white. To charge the toy, plug the included charger into the DC socket of the toy, and the plug into the outlet. Nea’s lights will pulsate letting you know she is charging. Once she’s fully charged, the lights will no longer pulsate. Instead, the lights will be a constant white colour (no flashing). Nea should not be used while she is charging.

To clean Nea you can use soap and water, toy wipes, a toy cleaning spray, or rubbing alcohol. Nea is not waterproof so it’s important to take precaution not to get water into the DC socket or in the buttons. Nea should not be stored in areas of extreme heat and not directly in the sunlight. I keep my Nea in the storage box it came in. You could also keep her in the included storage pouch.

Overall, I’m happy I tried Nea but she won’t be my go-to clitoral stimulator. The half buzzy vibrations just do not work for me. I’ve only deducted one star for this because while I prefer rumbly vibrations, I’m sure there are people who prefer the buzz. If only Nea had intense rumbling vibrations… her and I would be inseparable.

I still think this is a cute little vibe but sadly, it didn't cut it for me. I actually found a new home for Nea through the Classifieds.
