Review of Nea - Cute vibrator

The Lelo Nea is meant to be a clitoral vibrator, but can be used all over the body to stimulate your erogenous zones. Her shape makes her difficult to insert, but this is alright considering that she was not created to be inserted anywhere. However, she is wonderful for external stimulation all over your body and is not just limited to the clitoris. I like using my Nea on my nipples and resting her on my labia so that her tip is at the entrance to my vagina and her base is vibrating at my clitoris.

Nea is not just for solo play, though! She's great for couples as well. Her elegant and non-threatening form makes her the perfect toy for couples where one partner (or both) is intimidated by the idea of using a sex toy, while more advanced couples can still enjoy stimulating one another with her. You can even use her hands-free during intercourse, since her curved form allows her to stay in place on your pubic bone while in the missionary position for additional clitoral stimulation! If you have a spare hand in other positions, she is easy to hold and fits naturally in your grasp.

The Lelo Nea is made entirely of a smooth, shiny, and rigid plastic, earning her an 8 on Eden's safety scale. She is nonporous, hypoallergenic, phthalate free, and latex free. Nea has no texture other than a slight seam (unable to be felt while in use), the LELO engraving found on most of their toys, and her buttons. She glides across skin very easily and feels pleasant to the touch.

Because she is plastic, feel free to use any kind of lubricant with her you should decide to. There's no drag to her even without lubricant, so whether or not you use lubricant with her is entirely up to you. However, be careful, since she gets quite slippery when wet!

My Nea was white with silver-colored flowers. These motifs are purely for decoration and could not be felt during use. They are made of the same plastic as the body of the toy and thus, should not scrape off with time. I gently scratched at one but it did not come off.

I've read that the Nea is a fingerprint magnet, but I did not run into this problem. If I look really closely, I can see some fingerprints, but because my Nea is white they aren't very visible. You can always wipe her with a lint free cloth to get rid of them if you have a different color.

There was no smell or taste to my Nea when I opened her, and she does not retain smells either.

The primary reason why I bought my Nea was because of her design. I find her form beautiful and artistic, so much so that I cannot help but refer to her as female! Granted, I feel this way about many Lelo products, but somehow Nea was the one that made me fall in love with the designs the brand produces. She does not look like what most people would consider a vibrator, making her very discreet. If somebody did realize that she vibrates, you could easily pass her off as a neck or shoulder massager.

The Nea is about 1.5" wide, 3" long, and 1" 'high' at her largest. I was actually surprised at how small she was - despite having read a lot of reviews before purchasing her, I had imagined her bigger. To give you a sense of comparison, here is my Nea beside with my Galaxy S4, a tube of Burt's Bees chapstick, a ruler, and a pen:



I am not upset that she was smaller than expected, though, as it makes her so much easier to store and hide. Her size and shape also allow her to fit in the hand naturally, thus adding ease to her use.

Nea's body is shaped sort of like an angular c while also tapering to a point. The vibrations are strongest at the tip, where the flower motifs are. This form allows her to rest easily on the pubic bone and provide pinpoint clitoral stimulation.

Controls
There are two light-up buttons on the underside of the Nea that control her, to be referred to as 'up' (the lower one in the picture) and 'down' (the higher one in the picture). To turn her on, press up until she starts to vibrate. Do the same but with down to turn her off, and press both of the buttons for several seconds to lock and unlock her. While in use, press up and down to reach your desired speed. I tried to count exactly how many speeds there were, but my count kept coming up different every time since there aren't very clear hard cut speeds. I would say that there are at least a dozen, though. To reach the patterns, simply hold up for a couple of seconds. To return to steady vibrations, hold down.

The patterns are as follows:
- Slow pulse (~1/sec)
- Medium pulse (~2/sec)
- Fast pulse (~4/sec)
- Vroom-like speed up and slow down (~2 sec)

The placement of the buttons is a bit awkward at first, since they're located on the bottom of the toy (and thus probably being pressed against you while in use), but once I got used to them I stopped minding. When I decide to adjust the vibration, I have to lift the base of the toy a little, which presses it into my clitoris and increases stimulation.


Power Source
One of my favorite features of the Nea is that she is rechargeable, since I, like many, get really annoyed when batteries die and hate having to constantly replace them. I normally use rechargeable batteries anyway so that I don't constantly have to buy new ones, but I found it refreshing that I don't even have to bother with those since Nea has her own handy power cable.

It takes her about two hours to fully charge, as indicated by the lights no longer flashing, and she gets several hours per charge (Lelo advertises 7, and though I haven't tested this, she definitely does last for several sessions). She can hold a charge for up to 90 days.


Vibrations
It is difficult to discuss the vibrations as a whole since the Nea has so many different levels. Her vibrations start off as a quiet purr, entirely silent and nearly impossible to feel, and gradually grow to a decently strong setting. I have accidentally left her on on the lowest setting thinking that she was off. If you cannot climax without a lot of power, she is probably too weak for you, but if you are average in sensitivity (or a beginner) she should be more than enough. The orgasms she gives are not fast and explosive, but instead are built up - something I personally find myself enjoying more anyway.

What really amazed me was how quiet Nea was. On her lowest setting, she was nearly entirely silent, and on her highest setting she was still quiet enough to not be heard through a closed door. Of course, since she is made of hard plastic she will be loud if touching anything hard, but even my office chair was enough to make her remarkably quiet. This makes her perfect for people that live with others and for travel.

Her vibrations are somewhere between buzzy and rumbly. I cannot really call them rumbly, but would hesitate before describing them as buzzy because a lot of cheap and low quality toys come in mind, so she falls somewhere in between.

I had a hard time deciding whether to rate her as three or four vrooms. If we had half scales, she would be three and a half, but I ended up choosing four since her vibrations are in fact powerful for a nearly silent toy. She's no Hitachi (or insert another strong toy there), but she also doesn't sound like one. Of all of my vibrators, she is by far the quietest but far from the weakest.

Because Nea is non-porous, you don't have to worry about germs hiding in her. The only part that concerns me is the seam, but it's not located in a part that would get particularly dirty anyway. Keep in mind that Nea is not waterproof and should not be entirely submerged, with special care to be taken around the buttons and DC port.

To clean my Nea, I just carefully rub her with a bit of foaming antibacterial soap and then wipe her with a damp washcloth. I leave her out to dry. If you have toy cleaners or wipes, they would work as well. Lelo says to avoid using alcohol on her, but I have sanitized her with small amounts of rubbing alcohol before and she has not died on me yet. Use it at your own risk though!

Any type of lubricant can be used with Nea, but be careful to avoid her no-no places (DC port and buttons). Also, be warned that she does become very slippery when wet, so keep something around that you can hold onto her with (such as a dry washcloth).

Storage is easy. Nea doesn't interact with other materials, so you can store her with your other toys without worry. Because she does not look like a vibrator, feel free to leave her out on your bed-stand or desk, just avoid leaving her in direct sunlight (as with all electronics). If you are worried about her getting scratched, you can keep her in the drawstring bag that she comes with. She thankfully does not attract dust or lint, so you do not have to worry about keeping her in a lint free location.

I love LELO's packaging - it's one of the best parts of buying a LELO toy. Nea comes in an outer box of the same color that she is with the LELO Emblem on the front and a picture of her on the back. The outer box does say 'Pleasure Object' on it, but still looks classy with no naked people or overly sexual features. Within this box is a plain black box with only the LELO emblem on it. I appreciated how easy to open the packaging was, since I despise difficult to open plastic casings.

Everything else is inside, neatly lying there and waiting for you. The instruction packet is actually made for all of LELO's vibrating toys, but is still mildly informative to read through. Most of it is self-explanatory, though. LELO's warranty consists of a one-year product warranty and a ten-year quality warranty (where if your toy breaks LELO will give you 50% off of a new toy).

Both the black box and drawstring bag make great storage options for your Nea, and the packaging would make a wonderful gift. I do wish that the outer box did not say "pleasure object", but even so it is very classy and provided a wonderful first impression for this new friend (toy).

This toy is not for power queens, but I feel that power isn't everything. The range in vibrations and near silence are wonderful, and I personally adore Nea's form. She deserves five stars for so many reasons, and I am more than happy to give them to her.

My favorite use for my Nea is to place her in-between my legs while I'm sitting at my desk, with her curve on my clitoris and her tip by my vagina. I leave her on a very quiet setting and work on things. Then, slowly as I begin to feel her, I make the vibrations stronger and move her slightly up. Eventually, I find her tip on my clitoris and her vibrations on one of the higher settings (somehow, each time I end up on the second highest). This normally takes me 30-40 minutes, but so far these have been my favorite orgasms of any toy. Because of her shape, the Nea stays in place well and I don't have to worry about her moving away, and I simply love how she can provide both broad and pinpoint stimulation. Even though I now have stronger toys that can make me climax faster, there's just something about Nea's overall form and design that makes me keep reaching for her.
