Divine Massages

A lovely scent, absorbs into the skin wonderfully in the right quantities, can be used as a moisturizer, aid in hand jobs, and even added to your bath. There's almost nothing this oil can't do.

Use

Massage oils are one of the best ways to make a massage with hand, stone, or any other massage aid even better. On top of adding a lovely glide that makes things more comfortable for both people involved, this particular oil from Shunga is also great for moisturizing the skin.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This oil has a consistency closer to that of water, at least when coming out of the bottle. It pours a lot like water, and very much like water, will run downhill at any chance it gets. It goes on smooth and silky and spreads around easily. It doesn't feel sticky or greasy or anything while being spread around.

You can heat up this oil in the microwave as well (be careful to make sure you make it warm, not hot), which will make it slightly runnier.

Taste / Aroma

I have the exotic fruit scented oil. To me and my fiance it smells a lot like something resembling Juicy Fruit. It has a slightly sweet smell and there isn't one specific fruit either of us could pick out. There isn't a very strong smell associated with mine. I could catch whiffs of it here and there after having it used on me for a massage for a few hours. When used as a moisturizer the scent stays lightly on the skin and lasts about as long as most lotions seem to.

If mixed fruits aren't quite your thing but you want to try out this oil, Eden also offers this in orange, rose, vanilla, lavender, peach, apple, floral, and strawberries & champagne.

Performance

This oil worked well for both of us to use on each other. It spread out evenly and smoothly and felt awesome. I've noticed that it seems to have a bit of a warming sensation to it once it absorbs into your skin enough to start creating friction, and this warming sensation is just divine on sore muscles. It worked well with massage stones as well.

When he used it on me, I didn't feel really greasy or anything. I mean, if I touched my back or wherever with my hand, I could feel the residue on my hand but it wasn't enough to make me run for the shower. I kept touching my back for a few hours and it took about an hour and a half to stop feeling that residue. When I used it on him, as soon as I was done I made a mad dash for the bathroom to wash it off my hands.

If you decide to heat the oil up, make sure that it isn't going to burn either one of you.

This oil also works well for cooling down too. Just stick it in the fridge until it gets chilly, then use it for massage. When left in the fridge for a whole weekend we had no problems with the oil changing consistencies or solidifying or anything. When used in its cooled down state it'll take about 20 minutes to warm up to what most people would consider pleasantly cool. It only feels cool on the skin for a few moments, but when it starts to warm up with the friction of being rubbed into the skin, it doesn't leave you feeling too warm if you're in a very warm area.
    • Long lasting
    • Needs to be washed off with soap and water

Packaging

Your massage oil will be in a bottle that's about 7 1/2" tall and easily held by just about any size hand. It holds 8 fluid ounces that will last you quite a while.

The front of the bottle has a strip that features Shunga's signature artwork, as well as lists the scent. The back is just words that go down the length of the bottle featuring the 'catch phrase' for the product in 4 different languages, as well as the ingredients list, which reads as follows: sweet almond oil, grape seed oil, sesame oil, avocado oil, safflower oil, Vitamin E, Ylang Ylang, and fragrance.

If you're worried about somebody seeing the word 'erotic' in small print, then hide this bottle. It only appears once on the front of the bottle, although that label can be removed, and on the back at the top of each 'catch phrase'. Other than that there's nothing about this bottle that couldn't get left out on a nightstand or dresser.

The cap can either screw off, or you can depress one side like a shampoo bottle and the other end pops right up. The plastic of the bottle feels flimsy in a good way, letting you have more precise control over how much comes out.
    • Can be opened with one hand
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Would make a nice gift

Experience

I love the way this stuff smells. Seriously, I sometimes just take the cap off and smell it. We both like how it works for massages, and once the weather cools down and our room isn't about 85 degrees all the time, we both really look forward to trying this out heated.

Also, we haven't tried it yet, but plan to in the near future, but we were thinking that if it were able to be heated so well, what's to stop us from putting it in the fridge for a little while for a cooling massage.
Follow-up commentary
This is still one of my favorite general oils. I'm still partial to the exotic fruits scent myself, but I've liked most of the ones I've tried except for the floral one. I just can't get into the scent, but it feels just as great as the rest of them.

We did end up putting it in the fridge and had nice chilled massages, and I still use it from time to time just as a moisturizer out of the shower. I still think it might be runnier than some people might like, but for me it's still one of my absolute top pics when it comes to general oils.
