Body scrub - scrub discontinued by Venus - review by VioletMoonstone

This aromatic dead sea salt body scrub from Venus is absolutely wonderful! It sloughs off dead skin and leaves your body feeling clean, refreshed, and smooth. This is the first product I've tried from Venus and it left me wanting more. Besides the body scrubs there are also matching body butters, body mists, and bath salts. If you're picking up the body scrub I'd highly recommend purchasing it along with the matching body butter for incredibly soft skin!

The best use for this product is for exfoliating the skin. If your skin is dull and rough then you probably need to exfoliate! It works great on legs on those days between shaving, arms, elbows, knees, feet, ect. I didn't realize how much I needed this product until after I used it for the first time. I thought my skin felt fine before but after using it you can feel a significant difference in the texture of your skin. "Fall in love with Venus body scrub made to buff your skin to it's softest." The texture of the body scrub can be described as smooth and grainy. You can feel the salt granules in the scrub when you apply it to your skin. The liquid and the small granules make it look a lot softer than it really is. It's grainy but not too grainy. It's gentle but just rough enough to slough off dead skin cells without being too abrasive. I love the texture of it because when you use it you can feel that it's really working. The liquid is like a really watery gel that drips and pours easily. I would have liked it more if it was thicker in consistency. You have to be very careful when you pour it out because you can easily pour out too much at a time. When in use it feels soft, luxurious, grainy, and smooth. It rathers up slightly when you use your hands. I'm not sure how much it lathers if you prefer to use a wash cloth or a bath sponge. I prefer to use it with my hands and concentrate on those rough areas with my fingertips.

When I ordered this product I also ordered the matching body butter to go with it. The body butter has more of a heavier scent than the body scrub and they both smell amazing. Milk smells like a delious whipped blend of milky cream and almonds. I love this scent so much! It's like a natural, oatmeal, almond, milky, yummy scent! It kind of reminds me of Jergens lotion without the cherry. The body scrub is very lightly scented and not nearly as strong as the body butter. When you use the body scrub in the shower like I did you can catch light whiffs of the scent but it's not very strong at all. It smells so good and I wish it was stronger!

I took the body scrub in the shower with me. After shampooing my hair, washing my body, ect. I pointed the shower head away from me so I could get a good scrub down before rinsing. The bottle has an annoying little black cap that you have to twist off. It's really easy to drop and lose so you have to be careful with it. I poured some of the body scrub into my hand. You have to be careful when you pour because it's pretty watery and gel like and it's so easy to get too much at once! I did this on accident at first. I rubbed my hands together and just applied it all over my legs and arms, concentrating on those stubborn dry elbows and knees. After a few minutes I rinsed it all off and I could already see and feel a difference in my skin. I didn't experience any burning or allergic reactions at all and my skin is pretty sensitive to these types of products. My skin was rosy and pink but not from irritation, it was more of a healthy pink glow. It's like my circulation improved and I could just see and feel that my skin felt a lot better already. I could definitely feel a difference in the rough spots on my knees and just the overall feeling of my skin. The more you rub it in the velvety it gets. It lathers up slightly and feel really nice but when using your hands it doesn't lather up very much. I could smell the delicious milk scent but it was very light. Rinsing off was no problem at all. The salt goes right down the drain unlike other scrubs where the grains just stick to everything. Plus the salt is clear so you don't have to worry about any visible beads clinging to the shower floors or walls. It's rinses off easily and doesn't leave any stickiness behind.

In the past I've used other scrubs that had blue colored beads in them and they just stick to everything and they're so hard to rinse off! Usually at the end of my shower I end up having to clean my shower by rinsing down all the walls and the floor to get the beads out. It's really inconvenient when you're trying to relax. I didn't have that problem at all with this salt scrub!

The body scrub was inside of a plastic baggy that was tied with a knot at the top. When I received it there were no leaks. If there had been a leak the rest of my order would have been saved which is always a good thing.

The bottle you get is 8oz. It's a plastic bottle with a black plastic cap that screws off/on. It's a pretty simple bottle with thick shiny sticker labels on the front and back. The cap is my only major issue. I would have prefered to have a click top cap or even a pump. The cap could easily get lost or dropped when you're fumbling with it in the shower. I also want to note that I thought this bottle would be twice as big than it really is. I would love a huge bottle of this body scrub with a pump! I want more more more! If I only use it twice a week I think the bottle might last me a little longer than a month or so. I like to use a lot of product so I'd much rather just grab gobs of this without worrying about wasting it. This body scrub is awesome and I'll definitely be buying more I'm sure.

The sticker label on the front has a white silhouette of a woman which doesn't look sexual in any way. But she's standing in front of somebody naked! You can only see a sliver of the side of the naked body standing behind her so from far away you probably wouldn't really notice. But if you look up close it's obvious. It doesn't show any naughty bits or anything. I don't think it's that explicit at all but it's something to think about if you're giving it as a gift. I think it's fine though.

Ingredients:
dead sea salt, pumice, aqua, tea lauryl sulfate, propylene glycol, carbomeroleth 20, glycetreth 26, fragrance, benzophenone 4, methyl paraben, propyl paraben imidiazolidnyl urea, triethanolamine, disodium edta, may contain fd&c yellow 5, yellow 6, red 33, and blue 1.

This product contains parabens and I'm assuming "glycetreth" is glycerin? The bottle also states that Venus does not test on animals. Made in the USA. A natural dead sea product.
