Silk lube - lubricant discontinued by Sliquid, LLC - review by Becauseiamawoman

Recently, I have begun looking at the products I use with a more critical eyes towards the ingredients. I have made a big attempt to cut out products with toxic ingredients in them, and this includes my lube and sex toys! In this respect, the biggest sacrifice for me has been Liquid Silk. Ever since, I have been searching for an alternative with similar performance that is glycerin and paraben free. I have finally found that in Sliquid Silk!

The ingredients are all vegan and body-friendly, which is of the upmost importance, at least for me. Many of the toxins we frequently find in lube may have a negative impact on your health. The more natural ingredients also are better for people with more sensitive skin! The ingredients in Sliquid Silk are as follows (according to the bottle): Purified Water, Plant Cellulose (from Cotton), Isopropyl Palmitate, Polysorbate 20, Dimethicone, Emollient Ester, Potassium Sorbate

Since the lube is water-based, it is safe to use with all your sex toys and for vaginal and anal penetration. However, it also means that when used for penetration, the body may absorb it quicker than a silicone lube. This means you may need to reapply. However, this particular water-based lubrication is very long lasting. I personally did not need to reapply it during sex, which is something I am used to doing with other brands.

This product is definitely very similar to Liquid Silk. It feels exactly the same to me, but without all of the harmful toxins. It also doesn't seem to have the bitter taste that Liquid Silk does. I was such a big fan of LS because it mimicked the natural fluids of the body so well. Sliquid Silk does the same. It feels less like you applied something artificial and more like something that would come from your body. This seems to aid in the overall sexual experience.

The design of the bottle is very cute. It comes in a small clear container with a purple label. I think the label has a little bit of whimsy to it as well. I actually have two bottles of this lube, and I noticed that the lettering color on the two are very different. On one, it is white as in the product pictures. However, on the other it is a bright pink. I'm not sure if this is how the product typically is or if this particular bottle just went through some discoloration. Either way, it is still aesthetically pleasing! The small size of the bottle also makes it travel friendly. Just throw it in your liquids bag if you are flying!

Sliquid is still amazing! This lube definitely did stand up over time. However, since I started to really "go green" I've switched to the Sliquid Organic line. Both are great options!
