Smooth as Silk

Sliquid Silk is a hybrid lube, which means it is water based but contains a small amount of silicone. Silk works well for toys, handjobs, female masturbation and vaginal and anal sex which makes it a good all purpose lube. The only use I wouldn't suggest is oral.

The bottle says that Silk is not for use with other silicone products, but I have used it with a variety of silicone toys. Silicone from Tantus, Lelo, Fun Factory, Jimmyjane, SinFive, Jollies, Nexus, Evolved, Touche, Topco and Doc Johnson had no reaction when swatched with this lube.

Silk does not contain glycerine, parabens or fragrance so it should not cause yeast infections or allergic reactions. It is latex-safe so it can be used with condoms.

Sliquid Silk is quite thick. It dispenses slowly from the bottle and stays in place on skin or toys. A generous blob drips slowly down my finger at about an inch a minute. It is similar in thickness to Maximus, but has a creamier, more silky feel due to the silicone it contains. When rubbed into skin it eventually absorbs and will leave the skin feeling soft and smooth, but if you continue the friction after it is dry the product will start to ball up.

This is not a flavoured lube but it does have a slight odour and flavour. The smell reminds me of green apple scented dishsoap but I don't notice it during use. The taste is similar to lipstick; not gross, but not something I want in my mouth.

I like the thickness of Silk because it is great for anal sex and toy play, which are the main activites I use lube for. It doesn't drip and is very long lasting so I've never had to reapply it. I tested Silk and Maximus (one on each leg) and Maximus lasted a little longer, but it was a very close race. When I use Silk vaginally I don't feel the need to clean it off. I use more lube for anal which leaves things feeling slippery afterwards, but a quick wipe with a kleenex is all that's needed to remove it.

Silk comes in a clear bottle with a flip cap. It contains 4.2 oz or 125 ml. The bottle is not particulary discreet since it says Intimate Lubricant on the front, but it's not tacky looking. I have thrown the bottle in my purse to take it to my partners house and didn't have a problem with leakage. For a longer trip I'd suggest putting it in a plastic bag because the top could get knocked open.

One thing that makes Silk different from most lubes is that it is white rather than clear, which makes it look a lot like semen. I never really thought about it while using Silk with my toys since they are all non-realistic, but the first time I squirted some onto my partner's penis the resemblance was obvious. I don't really care what my lube looks like, but this might be a turn on or turn off for some people.
