Silk lube - lubricant discontinued by Sliquid, LLC - review by philip steven

Sliquid Silk is a water/silicone hybrid lube used to slick up whatever you need it to: yourself, your toys (I tested on all my silicone toys, which remain unharmed) or even a partner. It is best for vaginal play, since I don't think its texture is quite "right" for anal sex or anal play. I have used it when I don't have my favorite lube to lube up a plug though. I recommend this product for anyone looking for a hybrid, toy-friendly, body-friendly lube.

This lube is opaque white, slippery and smooth, and non-greasy. I could get past the white lube if it wasn't for the consistency. Is it ever thick! It's so thick that it squeezes out of the bottle in the shape of the dispenser hole - ever see a lube ribbon? When I pump a tiny amount I can keep it on my fingers for a minute or so before it starts to move, so a positive to this would be that it isn't messy at all and it won't drip it anywhere.

This lube, even though it is a hybrid, smells like nothing. Pure water if anything. Its taste however, is a different story. I didn't want to taste it based on its appearance but I did for the sake of this review. Ironically enough, it's ever so slightly salty. Not off-putting, but it definitely doesn't taste like nothing.

I would assume it is safe to consume since myself and my partner have yet to be sick from it, however, based on its ingredients (purified water, plant cellulose, isopropyl palmitate, polysorbate 20, dimethicone, emollient ester and potassium sorbate) and because it is a hybrid lube, be cautious. Everyone reacts differently.

I thought this lube was pretty awful in the performance category. I liked that it didn't destroy any of my silicone toys and that you didn't need a whole lot to get everything slicked up nicely. I also feel like it's a fairly decent lasting lube when you use it with toys. That being said, with a partner, I had to reapply it every couple of minutes because it absorbed so fast, with or without condoms. I also had to wash it off because it left this gross, flaky residue that my partner found incredibly off-putting. For a Sliquid lube, I was pretty disappointed.

I have a 4.2oz bottle. It is clear, with a purple label and the white lotus on the front. It has a pop-top which is nice, but I wouldn't call it discreet since it says "intimate hybrid lubricant" on the front in not the smallest font.

On the back it has "The Sliquid Promise" (free of DEA, parabens, gluten, glycerine, PEG, propylene glycol, sorbitol & sulphates, vegan friendly) and a list of ingredients. It also specifies that the lube is a silicone/water hybrid and is also hypoallergenic.

It is travel friendly as long as you aren't flying, because it is over 2 ounces. I've packed it into a suitcase and road-tripped with it without any problems.

I don't like this lube. I'm trying to experiment with different condoms and toys to see if maybe that's the issue, but to me it just seems like Sliquid missed the mark on this one. It lubricates, but there are much better lubes out there.
