Toyfluid - lubricant discontinued by Fun Factory - review by Jill Ingoff

Toyfluid is a good water-based lube for toys you can't use other lubes on. I think it's also great for women that don't need a lot of extra lube during sex. If you're looking for a good thin water-based lube that feels natural, doesn't smell or taste strange, then Toyfluid is for you. (I don't recommend this if your vagina is sensitive to glycerin, though.)

I took 1 star off of my rating because I had a problem with the viscosity. Because I'm used to silicone-based lubes, I guess I was expecting Toyfluid to be thicker than it was. My first impression when I squirted it on my hand was that it's like using water - really, two steps up from using water - to masturbate. I called upon my past experience with other water-based lubes (KY and other drugstore brands) and shuddered. But, compared to KY, this is much better!

I really didn't like that it was too runny. I like a thicker lube (and a lot of it) and Toyfluid was very messy. I'd pump it onto the toy and it would slide right off and onto the sheets or floor. It didn't stain my sheets but it was still hard to figure out how to get it from the bottle to my toy without a mess. Finally I squirted it on myself, then used the toy but I still ended up with messy sheets.

It's a good thing Toyfluid comes with a pump, otherwise I think it would be too easy to waste it by accidentally pouring out too much.

This lube is absolutely odorless. I love that. I haven't actually tasted it, but according to other reviews it does have a very slight sweet taste (I'm assuming due to the glycerin).

I like to use Toyfluid on "soft" vaginal sex toys that require a water-based lube and on my clit during regular manual masturbation. I can't use it with hard, rigid toys or anal toys. It's just not thick enough for use with my glass and plastic toys and it certainly wasn't thick enough for anal play - but that's a personal preference. It might be enough for you!

I like (and need) to use a lot of lube. Unfortunately, since I started taking a certain medication, one side effect is that I don't get as wet as I used to. What I really liked about this lube is that upon use, it mixed nicely with my natural lube and really added to it. I did reapply a couple of times because I like a lot of lube.

Toyfluid also felt nice on my fingers - like nothing at all. It just feels like my natural fluid. It didn't dry up too fast or last as long as some other lubes I'm used to. For a water-based lube, it lasted a long time. But when it dried, it was tacky on my fingers and thighs. I still felt sticky after using a few baby wipes. I had to shower after using this. Showers are great and all, but not while I'm in post-orgasmic bliss. I took another star off the rating for that!

It's true that this lube reactivates with water. I noticed it when I started to wash my hands or rinse it off in the shower. I don't really think this is a plus for me - am I supposed to spray my vulva with water when it dries? Maybe it reactivates with saliva as well? I haven't had oral sex after using Toyfluid so I can't say.

I'm such a sucker for packaging. A big factor in my decision to buy this was the sleek, silver can and pump. It's very discreet, I left it out on my dresser once while my mom was visiting. It looks just like a can of hairspray or other hair product. Although if you were to pick it up and actually read it, it would say: 'Lubricant Toyfluid Perfect for toys, Latex safe.' It's travel safe if you lock the pump and put the cap on.

As you can probably tell, I originally bought this water-based lube because I had to! I prefer silicone-based lubes for toy play but because I've started buying toys that require only a water-based lube, I had to buy one or go without. And going without is just not an option for me. So after melting a few of my silicone toys with silicone-based lubes, I finally caved and bought a water-based. However, I still prefer my silicone-based lube. It's a shame this lube didn't work out for me, I'm a big fan of Fun Factory's toys!

I'm going to keep looking for a better water-based lube, according to my specific needs.
