Cleo-patra, Queen of the Tile

I'm happy with the Cleo, and it isn't like any other toy I own. The unique shape and interesting design allow you to do things with this massager that are hard to accomplish with a standard vibrator. The suction cup is removable, which gives you a range of ways to use the Cleo. It won't please power queens, but it's not weak, and it feels great for all over body massage.

Use

The Cleo Ono is a massager. It comes equipped with a double sided suction cup, so clearly it is intended to be attached to a smooth surface, allowing you to ride it or press up against it for stimulation. The Cleo is waterproof, and the suction cup allows you to attach it to the shower wall or floor of the tub and use it during a shower or bath. Because the suction cup is double sided, you can also remove it and use the Cleo without it. It can be placed on a pillow or rolled up blanket and used in much the same way.

There are no portions of the Cleo that can really logistically be inserted, so it is strictly for external use. Obviously the design is aimed toward clitoral stimulation, but it also works well on other erogenous zones. It could be used for breast, nipple, external anal, external vaginal, testicle or shaft of the penis stimulation. Really, anywhere externally that you enjoy vibrations, you could use the Cleo. Because it is only an external toy, this isn't going to stimulate your G-spot or P-spot.

This toy can be used by anyone, really. It stimulates your external anal region nicely during other play, and it does a nice job of external clitoral stimulation. I will say, that if you don't enjoy play in any other position aside from lying on your back, you might not have much use for this toy. You really need to be standing, squatting or angled in some way to get this toy to hit the sweet spots.

Because there is no possibility of a partner going a little too crazy with it and bruising your cervix with vigorous thrusting, it's a toy couples can use with confidence. You can give your partner an all over body massage with the Cleo, and finish it up by applying some direct focus to more sexual areas. That is sure to heat things up!

Material / Texture

The Cleo made of silicone, hard plastic and rubber. Silicone rates a 10 out of 10 on the Eden Safety Scale, and is non-porous, hypoallergenic, latex free and phthalates free. The silicone used on the Cleo is smooth and velvety, with just a slight drag to it. It feels soft and luxurious to the touch. It does tend to collect a large amount of lint, hair, dust, etc. The Cleo itself has no bend of squish. It it literally a silicone skin over a hard plastic form, so it's firm and perfect for providing pressure. It isn't soft of forgiving. The screw on base of the Cleo is made of plastic, which rates an 8 out of 10 on the Eden Safety Scale. The plastic is smooth, shiny and non-porous, with no bend or flex. It is rather slick if it gets lube or fluid on it, so when you are using it without the suction cup you need to make sure you keep a tight grip on it. The suction cup is made of rubber, so it can't be sterilized and can hold on to some bacteria. I would advise taking it into the shower with you when you use the Cleo and then washing it right away to avoid it holding onto soap, fluids or minerals from your water, especially if you have hard water. We have hard water, and have issues with staining, so I'm always on alert with things that can hold onto those mineral deposits.

Aside from the basic shape of the massager itself, there isn't a lot of texture. There are no raised nubs or bumps. There is a line that follows the curve of the raised portion, but it's more for aesthetics and can't be felt during use.

The style, material and texture of the Cleo would be suitable for beginner as well as advanced users.

Design / Shape / Size

This is one vibrator that doesn't look like anything else I own. It's sort of like a hat, sort of like a flying saucer and sort of like a protrusion you'd see on a rock climbing wall. It has a round base, and decreases in a sort of conical way. Instead of continuing with the decrease, it sort of becomes barbell shaped, with two protruding arms. You can choose to angle or position the two arms of the barbell however you like, depending upon how you choose to use the Cleo. The two raised points are different sizes, so it's really a matter of preference how you choose to place them, and the sensation in slightly different depending on the arm you choose.

Profile Shot:

The diameter of the entire disc is 4 3/4", and the overall height is 3 1/2" at the highest point. The larger arm is 1 3/4" wide, and the smaller arm is 1 5/8" wide. The raised barbell is a little over 4" long, with that center lower portion measuring 1 3/8" wide. I think the size is great. Any smaller, and it wouldn't have the impact it has, any larger and it wouldn't be able to be tucked in where it needs to be to get the job done. The suction cup is just under 4" in diameter.

An aerial view with a razor for comparison:

You can palm the base if you remove the suction cup, and really use those arms to penetrate deeply into sore muscles and give a great massage. You can also tuck that raised barbell shape in your labia and allow the vibrations to stimulate you in a broad way. The gentle dip between the arms of the barbell makes it comfortable to ride or squat on. It causes you to feel a little bit stretched open, but without the penetration that normally comes with that.

The Cleo does lock for travel, so if you wish to take this with you on a trip, be sure to lock it to avoid it turning on while in your luggage. To lock the Cleo, you press and hold the plus and minus buttons at the same time until the light blinks and then turns off. It is then locked. If you wish to unlock the Cleo, you do the same thing, and it will unlock.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Cleo is controlled with two buttons, a plus and a minus. To turn it on, you press and hold the plus button for a few seconds. It will turn on in steady vibration mode. Subsequent presses of the plus button increase intensity of the steady vibrations. If you want to decrease intensity you can press the minus button. If you wish to turn off the Cleo, you can simply press and hold the minus button. Once the Cleo is on the maximum steady intensity, you press and hold the plus button for two seconds to enter the pattern mode. Once in pattern mode, presses plus moves you to the next pattern and minus moves you back into steady vibration mode. The Cleo has 8 settings in all, the first being the range of steady vibrations and 2-8 being patterns. The patterns are the normal assortment of pulses, rollercoaster and ascending and descending patterns.

Controls, located on the logo:

The vibrations are spread out over the toy, with a bit more intensity in the two arms of the raised barbell shape. I would call this a solid three Vroom toy; it is moderately powerful but nothing exceptional. It should please most users that are satisfied with external stimulation and no vaginal penetration. It isn't very loud, but I wouldn't call it whisper quiet either. You can hear it through the covers, but you can't hear it through a closed door. You can't hear it through the bathroom door if you use it in the shower or tub.

I'd describe the vibration as more of a rumble, with very little buzz. The vibrations aren't super penetrating, but they do have a nice depth to them. I don't like lighter, surface buzzy vibrations, so I was relieved that this one offers a rumble instead.

As it's completely waterproof, the Cleo is submersible and can be used in the shower with no issues. After multiple trips to the shower and tub with me, not a drop of water has gotten into the battery compartment. The suction cup is nicely made. It has small pull tabs to break the suction, saving you the hassle of trying to dig up the side of it with your nail to break the suction. It has a decent amount of hold, but you do have to be careful not to slide it around on the shower wall. I did have it fall from the shower wall once, but most of the time it hung in there.

The Cleo takes 3 AA batteries. To install them, you unscrew the bottom disc and place them where they go, and then screw the disc back on. A feature I like is the fact that they include a small white ribbon which rests beneath the batteries, that you pull on to easily remove the batteries to change them out. I hate digging with my nails to get batteries out, so I appreciate that little touch. It lasted for hours of use with just the one set of batteries, so it isn't a battery guzzler at all.

Care and Maintenance

Cleaning the Cleo is fairly straightforward. The suction cup cannot be sterilized, but it can be washed with soap and water. The main body of the Cleo can be washed with soap and water or your favorite toy cleaner. You cannot boil it to sterilize it, because it has a motor, but you can wipe it with a 10% bleach solution.

I haven't had any issues with fluids or lubes being difficult to clean out of crevices or grooves. It is a breeze to clean up, just be sure that any dust or lint is cleaned from the surface before you use it.

Any water-based lube can be used with the Cleo. Silicone lubes are not advised, and they will cause damage to the silicone of the toy. Also, take care to store the Cleo away from other silicone toys to avoid damage.

Packaging

The Cleo comes packaged in a basic cardboard box with a clear window. The box is cube shaped and stacks well in your toy box. It does take up quite a bit more room than the toy itself, but it serves to keep the suction cup from getting folded or bent, and it keeps the silicone from collected a ton of hair. If you don't store it in the box, I'd recommend storing it in a bag to keep it as clean as possible.

I don't see why you couldn't gift it in the package it comes in, as it's certainly tasteful and not covered with naked people or huge text. That being said, I wouldn't call it a luxury package, and it isn't very classy.

Ono does include a small booklet of instruction with the Cleo, and they tell you everything you need to know about operating and caring for your toy.

Experience

I wanted the Cleo for a long time. When I saw it on deep discount, I worried that it might be going away, and I was right. I snagged it before it was discontinued, and I was so glad. I miss quite a few things from my wishlist that vanish, but this one I got just in the nick of time.

I first tried the Cleo with the suction cup and attached it to the wall in my shower enclosure. I played with the height a few times, feeling silly as I backed up on to it a few times and adjusted between each one. Once I was happy with the height and it was securely attached, I went to work. I angled and backed up on to the Cleo. It never felt...amazing. Something about the angles I had to bend myself into, or the lack of anything for penetration just didn't get add up to an amazing experience. I was disappointed but resolved to make it work.

I removed the suction cup, stood up and held myself open a bit and positioned the Cleo against my clitoris, tucking it as best I could inside my vulva. I closed my thighs to hold it securely and proceeded to shampoo my hair, determined to use this time to think of a way to make the Cleo work. It turns out I had already found it. With small hip movements I could get pretty direct clitoral stimulation while standing in the shower with it tucked between my legs. The fact that I was standing upright added to the excitement, and the challenge. Before too long, just after rinsing my hair, I was leaning against the shower for support as the Cleo succeeded in bringing me to climax, with a little assist from me moving my hips rhythmically.

Outside of the bath, the Cleo makes a great body massage tool. You can really use those nubs to press down on sore muscles and aching backs. It's comfortable and easy to palm the Cleo without the suction cup, and you can use any water-based lube as a massage lotion.

I also really like the Cleo when I place it on a pillow and mount it. You can use your hips to angle it how you'd like it, and then grind with the amount of pressure you prefer. You can also place a dildo with a flat base inside vaginally, and then grind on the Cleo on a pillow. The one arm presses the dildo inside of you a bit more with each movement you make, and the overall vibrations externally add to the experience.

I would love this toy if it were just a tad stronger, that's the only thing I can think of that I would change. I love the idea that it is multipurpose. I love that it can go in the shower with me. I love that it could be used by couples for sensual massage. It just need a teeny bit more oomph to me a 5 star toy.
Follow-up commentary
I still really like the unique design of this toy. It's a great toy to ride on and grind against, and works well for massage. It isn't an earth shaker, but it's a nice change of pace.
