The Versatile Vr2

The Vr2 is part of the Vanity line by Jopen, which is a division of California Exotics. It's a double ended vibrator which can be used in a variety of ways. The Vr2 has some great things going for it, but it's not one of my favourite toys. There are some things I really wish I could change about it. It's not a bad toy by any means, but it doesn't suit my preferences.

Use

The Vr2 is a double-ended vibrator. Because it has two differently sized and shaped ends, with two different vibration styles, it is a very versatile toy. Either end can be used for clitoral stimulation or vaginal insertion, and depending on anatomy, g-spot stimulation.

The Vr2 is totally waterproof, so you can use it anywhere. It's quiet, so it would be a good choice for anyone who needs discretion. Since it is lockable and reasonably small, it could be used as a travel vibrator. The price tag will probably scare most beginners off, but this could actually be a great option for beginners or someone who only wants to own one toy since it is so versatile.

Material / Texture

The Vr2 is made from Silicone, so it is non-porous, body-safe, and has no smell. The silicone has a silky, matte finish that feels very nice and doesn't pick up lint as much as some other silicone toys do. Like all the Vanity toys, it's an intense fuschia colour. It looks different in person than the way the pictures on the product page show up on my screen.

The Vr2 has a smooth surface, apart from the buttons, charging port, and some logos and information embossed on the bottom of the large end. I am very sensitive to textures (even ribbed condoms are too much for me), so having the buttons and raised printing being inserted was annoying for me, but wasn't actually painful. There is a slight seam around the toy, but I couldn't feel it.

Design / Shape / Size

The Vr2 has a very curvy shape, and is just under 7 inches long. It's made up of 2 ends with separate motors, connected by a slightly flexible neck.

The smaller end is shaped a lot like a thumb, and at 3 5/8" circumference, is not much larger than a man's thumb. I wasn't sure how I would like this end, since it doesn't have a traditionally curved shape, but it turned out to work quite well for me for g-spot stimulation. I didn't like it very much for clitoral stimulation, since I prefer a flatter, broader surface. I also wish the neck was not flexible, so I could get even more pressure on my g-spot and clit.

The large end is 5 inches around. It's nice and filling, without being too large or difficult to insert, especially since it has a slightly tapered end. The shape also worked much better for me clitorally, since I had a larger surface and it wasn't as bendy.

The design is very similar to the Form 6, since they have similar shapes and sizes, with dual motors. I prefer the Vr2's slightly smaller size and tapered shape, since the large end of the Form 6 was a bit too big for me. I do prefer Form 6's inflexibility, since it allows for a bit more pressure.

The Vr2's charging port is located on the neck of the toy. It is a tiny hole surrounded by a raised circle to make it more visible. It doesn't have a cover, but despite this, it somehow manages to keep out water.

(Below the charging port is the area with raised writing, but it doesn't show up well in my picture.)

Functions / Performance / Controls

There are 2 light-up buttons that control the vibrations. The buttons are located on the large end of the toy, and because of the placement, if you insert the large end they will not be accessible, which is inconvenient. Otherwise, the buttons are easy to use.

One button controls each end of the toy. There are no distinct speed settings, but if you hold the button down the power will gradually increase until it reaches the highest level. This makes the power level very adjustable. There are no patterns, just steady vibrations. To turn it off, you press the button again. There is no way to lower the speed, so you would have to turn the toy off and then go back up to the desired level.

The controls can be locked by holding down both buttons for 4 seconds. The Vr2 comes locked, and needs to be unlocked before it can be used.

The large end has nice, strong vibrations (a solid 4 vrooms). They are on the deeper side, but definitely not the deepest I have felt. The large side works really well for me. The small side is weaker and buzzier. It's not strong enough for me, but is probably strong enough for many people (3 vrooms.) Both ends are quiet, and even when they are running simultaneously this toy won't be heard through a door.

The Vr2's vibrations are very similar to Form 6, but Vr2 is slightly higher in pitch, and a hair stronger. Vr2 is much quieter than Form 6.

The Vr2 is waterproof. I was hesitant to submerge it at first, since there is no cover on the charging port, but it stood up just fine.

The Vr2 is rechargeable. Just push the end of the charging cord into the hole in the Vr2, then plug it into the wall. The lights behind the buttons will glow red while the toy is charging. The instructions say the light is supposed to turn white when they toy is charged, but in reality the light just turned off.

I noticed that the instructions said the initial charge will take 3 hours, and another information page inside the box said it will take 4 hours. Mine was somewhere in the middle. I'm not sure exactly how long a charge will last, but I can say it is a good amount of time. I've used my Vr2 multiple times, for at least 5 hours total, and it is still running on the first charge.

Care and Maintenance

Since the Vr2 is silicone and waterproof, it's easy to keep clean. Just wash it with warm water and antibacterial soap or toy cleaner. You could also wipe it down with a 10% bleach solution for sterilization.

Silicone is compatible with water or oil based lubricants. Silicone lubes can damage silicone toys.

The Vanity toys come with large, drawstring bags that easily fit the toy, as well as it's charger.

Packaging

The packaging isn't quite up to par with most other luxury toys. The Vr2 comes in a white cardboard box with a liftoff lid. The front simply has the name of the toy and a large V, so it's discreet. The back, however, has a picture of the toy and some information about it. Inside you will find the Vr2, it's charger, the storage bag. It comes with an instruction booklet and an additional information sheer. The instructions include information for all of the Vanity toys, and aren't very detailed, but include all the basic information you need.

Personal comments

The Vr2 comes with a 1 year warranty. You must register your product online, return it in the original packaging with the original receipt, and include a $10 cheque or money order. I was a bit disppointed with this warranty, since other companies like Lelo and Jimmyjane don't require you to include money for shipping and handling, and don't expect you to send it back in the original packaging.

There is also an optional 10 year warranty. After you register for the 1 year warranty, and email is suposed to be sent to you with information about it. I registered for the 1 year warranty, but I didn't get an email. I assume you have to pay for the 10 year warranty.
Follow-up commentary
Although it has some features I liked, I never really liked this toy overall. It just doesn't work that well for me, mainly due to the flexibility. I actually prefer the Vr2 which is basically a cheaper, plastic copy of the toy. It doesn't have all the luxury features, but the firmness allows me to get the pressure I need, and the vibrations are deeper.
