It’s long been a general rule that magazines featuring naked female breasts and such on their covers have to be covered up on newsstands so that kids (or anyone else) can’t see them. This month, Barnes & Noble and Borders have a notable censorship first—they covered up the cover of Dossier magazine that showed off the chest of male model Andrej Pejic.
Barnes & Noble reportedly expressed concern that bookstore patrons MIGHT see the cover and think that the androgynous Pejic was a topless female. And that, of course, would cause the end of civilization as we know it.
Judge for yourself, here’s the cover. We can’t believe bookstores would cover it up. Walmart—sure, we’d expect that. But bookstores?
