Hey fellas! Ever wonder what your dance moves say about you? Do they draw women in, or leave them laughing you out the door?
Well, wonder no longer. A group of psychologists has found the answer!
“Men all over the world will be interested to know what moves they can throw to attract women,” said Neave. “We now know which area of the body females are looking at when they are making a judgment about male dance attractiveness. If a man knows what the key moves are, he can get some training and improve his chances of attracting a female through his dance style.”
Nick Neave of Northumbria University and a team of researchers got 19 men aged 18-35 to dance to disco (Who says disco's dead?) and filmed them, then created dancing avatars from their movements. The avatars didn't have faces, genders or clothing. That way, when researchers showed the dancing figures to women to gauge their reaction, the focus would be solely on the dance moves. Smart!
Turns out us girls like “wider and bigger movements of the head, neck and torso” and “faster bending and twisting movements of their right knee”. Fellas, if you're stiff and plodding, throwing your arms around in no real semblance of order, you're going home alone tonight.
Huh. Who knew?
