Did any of you make it to the Exxxotica Expo in Los Angeles this year? Ladies, if you didn't stop by you really missed out. For the first time ever in Los Angeles, the expo granted free admission to all the females wanting to attend.
Why?
“We're using Einstein's most famous quotation: More girls = More fun,” an ad said.
And it seems some fellas are mighty peeved. So peeved, in fact, they're seeking a class-action lawsuit against the expo.
Lead plaintiff Glenn Samuels and his co-plaintiffs are calling the $35 door charge sexist. They say it violates The Unruh Civil Rights Act and The Gender Tax Repeal Act of 1995. And they say by suggesting women couldn't financially support themselves or their sextracurricular activities, the expo caused animosity between the very people they were trying to entice into their show—and at a time when more men are unemployed than women.
Says Samuels, it's “as offensive, archaic and unlawful as providing free admission to male patrons, or [...] people of color more than Caucasians for admission into this place of public accommodation or vice versa, or charging homosexuals more than heterosexuals for admission, or vice-versa.”
J Handy, who operates Victory Tradeshow Management, told XBIZ he couldn't comment because while he had heard of the suit, he has not yet seen the complaint.
