Have you heard what's going on with Hulk Hogan (Terrence Bollea) and his ex-wife Linda? This is insane.
Those of us still stuck in the “Hulk Hogan rules!” era (read: the ’80s) chewed our nails to the quick while the Bolleas battled in court for four years just for the right to dissolve their unhappy union. And after the divorce was final, Hulk married 36-year-old Jennifer McDaniel.
Now, Linda, who is obviously still a little peeved over the whole thing, has written a book. And in it she's making accusations that never came up in the divorce proceedings, a fact that's left Hulk and his fans a little perplexed.
But what's she saying? Well, according to Linda, Hulk is both gay and violent.
A professional wrestler is violent? Linda, you jest!
In her memoir, entitled Wrestling The Hulk: My Life Against the Ropes, Linda claims that while she was married to Hulk, he had sexual relations with Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake. She also says Hulk “ ... tore my clothes, threw lamps, and held me down on the bed with his hands around my throat during arguments ... I was always afraid he would kill me in one of his rages.”
Of course, Hulk's not taking this one lying down. In response to Linda's accusations, he's filed a defamation suit against her.
“If any of that was true, I would admit it, and (if) I was a homosexual I would embrace it,” says Hulk. “It's just so crazy to hear, so I have a real problem with it ... If you're going to say I'm something that I'm not to try to ruin my career and my livelihood ... I have to answer her back. It's so ridiculous. I don't mean to laugh about it, because it's not funny. But it's insane. It doesn't make any sense to me.”
Hogan's attorney, Wil Florin, told the St. Petersburg Times, “He's being accused of all sorts of vile conduct that he did not commit. Miss Bollea's made enough of these outrageous allegations that it's time they stop. The only realistic way of making them stop is through the court system.”
Looks like this is one case Linda Bollea is going to lose. Brutus, too, is prepared to file a defamation suit against Hulk's ex-wife.
“I've known [Linda] for almost 40 years, but when she starts trying to ruin our careers, it just ain't fair,” said Brutus. “Hulk is a tremendous person. A great man who deserves to be happy.”
