It looks like the tide is continuing to change when it comes to Joe Citizen's opinion on same-sex marriage in the U.S. If one can believe CNN and the Washington Post/ABC polls, that is.
The Post/ABC poll found that 53 percent of respondents are for marriage equality.
“This newest poll confirms yet again that Americans have been on a journey of understanding, living up to the American value of treating others as we would all want to be treated and staying true to our nation’s history of upholding the American promise of equality under the law,” Freedom to Marry founder and president Evan Wolfson said in a statement after the poll's release.
But which people?
A CNN poll showed that 60 percent of their respondents under 50 think same-sex marriage should be legal. But people over 50 are still largely against legalizing same-sex unions. And it seems women who responded to CNN's poll are more open-minded than the men, as 57 percent of women say they approve, while 54 percent of the men say they're opposed.
Quick, somebody get the results to John Boehner before he makes an ass of himself defending the defenseless Defense of Marriage Act. Oh. Too late.
