So remember the Canadian politician whose phone was stolen, and a penis was posted to his Twitter account? Well, it seems we've got a couple U.S. politicians finding themselves in similar situations.
First up, U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) has been accused of sending a picture of “bulging underwear” to a young lady via Twitter. The congressman vehemently denies he ever did such a thing. However, porn star Ginger Lee says she's received Twitter direct messages from Weiner.
“I know for a fact that my account was hacked,” Weiner told Fox News. “I can definitively say that I did not send this.” But he won’t say, for sure, that the photo in question wasn’t of him. In case you haven’t heard, this is all being called Weinergate, of course.
Ohio's House Speaker William Batchelder (R-Medina) got off easy with his Twitter hacker. He (or she) simply tweeted statements in support of liberal causes, criticized current Republican Gov. John Kasich and promoted former Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland.
Twitter's Adam Sharp had this to say, “While we won't comment on individual accounts, news reports of the past few days are a good reminder of the importance of actively protecting your account credentials.”
