Ella, Mia Bella!

The Ella by LELO is a toy staple everyone from beginners to advanced users should have in their toybox. It has two very different ends, and chances are that one of them will work wonders for you. For the price and the quality, what do you have to lose? This is an amazing safe and firm toy for G-spotting or basic penetration.

Use

The Ella by LELO is a beautifully crafted silicone dildo with two very different ends, both made to please! The best use for this toy is to insert it vaginally. It is not safe to use it anally, as it lacks a flared base. It can be rubbed on the clitoris as well. You could just insert this and leave it there while you work your clit, for extra stimulation. Or try to work both at the same time, assuming you can multitask. I like to alternate between rubbing my clit with a vibe, such as LELO Mia, and thrusting with Ella. Silicone will retain temperature, so you can run it under warm water for a little bit of temperature play. However you use it, this toy will zone in on your G-spot! Even if you can't seem to find yours, this toy will make it happen.

The two ends of Ella provide very different sensations. The first end has a hooked G-spot curve similar to that of LELO Gigi, and the second is more phallic-shaped and girthy with ridges. I find I can insert the second end farther than I can insert the first one, due to the hook making an easier handle and it's also harder to slip too far in. Both can stimulate my G-spot quite well, and while I enjoy the first end more, the other is a close second.

Many people rave about the first end and complain about the second being too pointy, but I find they both put just the right amount of firm pressure on my G-spot. It feels delicious! While the second end will provide a bit more length, a girthy bulge and pinpoint stimulation, the first end provides broader stimulation and more of a curve. It feels great to thrust with this toy, and to use a gentle rocking motion. When you rock the toy back and forth with the first end inserted, the opposite end can actually be pressed against your clit and stimulate it that way. This may not work for everyone, since all anatomies are different. It is less likely to bruise than glass or steel, but since it is still very firm, caution should be taken.

This toy is best suited for solo play, since the firm silicone may cause discomfort when placed in the hands of an over-zealous partner. It depends on your level of communication. If you want to, feel free, but let your partner know if you experience discomfort!

The best occasion to use this toy is for typical everyday use. The ideal situation for the use of this toy is pretty much anywhere! On a bed is best, but it could just as easily be used in a tub, shower or pool for some wet and wild fun. This toy is very travel-friendly.

Material / Texture

Ella is made out of pure silicone, which has a rating of 10/10 on Eden's safety scale. This silicone is smooth and non-porous. Silicone can be sterilized by boiling it for 3 minutes or by placing it in the top rack of the dishwasher with no soap. Since it can be sterilized, it can be shared. It repels water, making it waterproof. It can be soaked in warm water for a bit of temperature play.

The silicone is firm and only a little flexible. I would say it is rigid. It has no taste or smell. It feels smooth and velvety. It has very little drag on the skin. LELO's silicone is always luxurious. It has little to no texture. The only thing offsetting the smooth silicone are a few ridges and the LELO logos on the second end. The lack of texture makes it great for beginners, but this toy is a staple that everyone, including advanced users, should have in their toybox!

Design / Shape / Size

Ella's design is elegant, as I have come to see is true of all LELO's toys. It looks almost futuristic, especially in white. The Ella is also available in rose and black. It's so beautiful and shapely, I just like to stroke it and hold it in my hands. The velvety smooth silicone is scrumptious! It's fairly ergonomic, and does not tire the wrist or hand when in use. This toy is comfortable to use. As mentioned previously, this dildo is double-ended, so you have two very different shapes and sensations to try. The first end is curved and meant for broad stimulation. It tapers inward and is the smaller of the two ends, on a toy that is already petite. The second end is more for pinpoint stimulation and it tapers outward, creating a girthier bulging shape. It has minor ridges on it, that I barely notice during use. The shape works well for me! The first end, with the curve, puts broad pressure on my G-spot and the thin neck eliminates any "stretching" feeling that smaller and tighter girls like me may experience with bigger toys. It feels great to use a rocking motion. The second, straighter, girthier end provides pinpoint stimulation and is better for thrusting. Both ends made me feel amazing, even though I previously could not find my G-spot. This is a great tool for people who want to explore their bodies, or just want to stimulate them. It's also an inexpensive way to try two very different shapes to see what works for you!

Here are the measurements for Ella:

Length: 7"
Insertable length: 5"
Circumference: 4"
Diameter: 1 1/4"
Weight: 0.3 lb

The size is great. It's unusually small for a dildo, and I like it! For those who don't need more than 5" of length or a lot of girth, this should do the trick. If you prefer longer, thicker toys, you may want to look elsewhere. It should fit the average user without any discomfort. It is fairly discreet, though I'm sure most people could figure out what it is. It is very suitable for travel, so take it with you everywhere!

Performance

Ella performed wonderfully. The firm pressure both ends each put on my G-spot made me squirm! The best thing about this toy is that it is firm, but not totally unyielding like glass or steel. It's a great introduction to a firmer toy, without being too overwhelming and without as much of a risk for bruising. If you want to try a firm toy for G-spotting, this is an inexpensive way to do it.

Because it has two very different ends, I would say this has "lots of variety in function." Fortunately, while there are multiple ways to use this toy, it is not hard to figure out. The only thing you need to learn is which end works best for you, so set aside some time to really try it out. You won't be disappointed! I am glad this toy is easy to use, because that makes it a great toy for beginners (like me) and advanced users alike.

It was comfortable in use, both on the inside and on my wrist and hand. Even when using the pointed end, I didn't feel like I was being poked. This toy caused no discomfort any way I used it, and I find I can use it for extended periods of time with no issues. It was gentle on the wrist, and it provided enough of a handle for my hand to be at ease as well.

This toy could easily make many women squirt or gush, though this did not happen to me the first time I used it. I am also a dildo newbie, this being one of two I own. This toy is not harness or suction cup compatible.

Care and Maintenance

Since this toy is 100% silicone with no mechanical parts, it is very easy to care for! You can always wipe it down with toy wipes or alcohol-free baby wipes for an everyday clean, and set aside a day or a couple days a week to sanitize. You can do this with soap and warm water or toy-cleansing spray and a wet washcloth. When you feel the need to sterilize, you can boil Ella for 3 minutes or put her in the top rack of the dishwasher with no soap. I would recommend sterilizing a couple times a year and always before and after sharing or switching orifices. Pay careful attention to the LELO logos, because crud tends to get stuck in there. Lint may stick to the toy, so feel free to give it a quick rinse before using.

Don't let silicone touch other silicone toys, as the stronger silicone will break down the other. It is best to store it in the satin drawstring pouch it comes with or the box it came in. Do not use silicone-based lube with this toy for the same reason. Water-based lube is always the safest, and my preferred choice.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The packaging from LELO is classy as always! Certainly the nicest I have seen from any company. Great for storage, and also would make a lovely gift. It comes in a lovely reusable box with a recyclable cardboard box on the outside. The outer box is not too discreet as it has a picture of the toy on one side, although it just has the LELO logo on the other. The smaller sides have information in multiple languages. It is still very classy. The inner box is a sexy black matte box with the LELO logo in black on the top. Very discreet. Inside is a thick, transparent plastic casing holding the toy in place. Underneath is a hard plastic tray that holds the toy. Everything else including the manual, warranty information, sample pack of lube and drawstring bag are housed underneath the tray. The manual is very informative and tells you everything you need to know for use, care, storage, and maintenance.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Good for storage
    • Very informative

Experience

It should be noted that my white Ella arrived with black marks on it. I removed the black marks with careful washing, but the silicone underneath the marks had lost its velvety feel and had significantly more drag. Not sure what to do about it.

All in all, I really enjoyed this toy as a first dildo. It worked well for me, and I believe it will work well for 9 out of 10 women. It is a great value for the price, and is built to last a lifetime if it is taken care of properly. Even in the event it doesn't, you have a 10-year warranty on it! If you're interested, I would urge you to give it a try. It is a toy staple that everyone should own.

Follow-up commentary
I stand by everything in my review, and I have nothing more to add. My Ella with the black marks got replaced, though I haven't used it very many times since. I still like it though, and I feel like this toy will last a lifetime.

Thank you so much for this review. I was doing research deciding whether or not I should buy an Ella as my first dildo, and your review helped answer a lot of my questions (since you mentioned you were a dildo newbie as well). I'm still debating just going with it and splurging on a Gigi, but your comments about the second end being useful are tempting me to try it.
