Use

The Ella is a beautifully sculpted, fairly small and firm double-ended silicone dildo by the luxury toy company LELO. Ella is nicely priced to introduce prospective users to penetrative toy play and g-spot play.

Ella is designed for vaginal use and is not the best toy to use anally the g-spot curve only offers minimal protection against the toy being "sucked in" and becoming impossible to retrieve without medical assistance. Even for advanced users prepared to deal with the safety issues, there are toys much better designed for anal use!

Material / Texture

Ella is made of 100% silicone and is hypoallergenic and latex and phthalates free. The silicone's texture is smooth and velvety with no drag and it takes actively rolling her in cat hair to get her to collect lint! She is odorless and does not have a taste.

The "rose" color, when it arrived, I discovered was actually a very fuchsia tone. Not quite what I had been expecting from the pictures, but gorgeous nonetheless.

The Ella is rather firm, the only place you get any bed is in the narrow "neck" of the toy. She has only the very tiniest amount of give when pinched between fingers. As such, this toy might not be the easiest "very first toy" for someone who has never engaged in penetrative play and may be uncomfortable and painful at first if you are not used to toys with about a 1.5" diameter, although the tapered end can help ease you up to the size if you're ready.

Design / Shape / Size

Ella is streamlined and beautiful. She's discreet and elegant. The company name "LELO" is imprinted on the tapered end of the toy. The inside of the g-spot curve becomes a flat surface and the tapered end flows into it, this provides a bit of extra, but gentle, sensation in use. Ella has a seam that runs all the way around the body, but the seam is very subtle and takes a bit of searching for and shouldn't be an issue at all in use.

(please note, Ella is not generally seen as that pink unless in very strong light)

Ella is double-ended. One end is tapered from a very small, rounded tip, to about 1.5" in girth before narrowing to the 7/8" wide neck. From the neck, the toy curves, the underside of the curve being a more acute angle and the top being gentler, giving a flared head that ends in a "cut off" flat surface with round edges. This flat surface is about 1.75" wide, although during use this can be angled for gentle insertion so that only 1.5" is stretching the vaginal opening. The curve of the toy is has the head ending about 1" away from its body. This is a very nice curve that should successfully hit many g-spots.

The flat surface is ideal for broad g-spot stimulation and the firm material allows pressure to be pleasantly applied with ease.

Both ends of the toy fit very nicely in the hand, no matter which side you're using. I find the way the curve is pointing tends to want to change inside of you, so you have to hold it rather firmly and re-adjust sometimes to maintain the flat head pressing against the g-spot.

The hook on the Ella can catch on the pubic bone, so this toy would not be suitable for thrusting in and out. I did not have an issue with this - I left her inside during play and was gentle with removal. I felt her resting "hooked" on my pubic bone, but it didn't hurt to remove.

Ella is a small dildo and would fit in all but the smallest purses. No electronics, nothing to turn on in transit, and more discreet than a realistic dildo. Her status as a pleasure object might be guessed, but there is nothing about her that shouts it or looks particularly vulgar or incriminating.

Performance

The tapered end of the Ella is rather uneventful and likely will not do much for more experienced users. It's a good, gradual shape for new users, and those who might need to "stretch" a bit before being able to use the more abrupt shape of the g-spot end. Unless you're very aroused and stretched, the tip of the tapered end can poke at the cervix a bit, which hurts a bit due to the toy's rigidity.

The g-spot end is what will really make this toy great for the majority of users. Once inserted, the shape applies pressure to the g-spot and the toy can be rocked up and down to create pleasant to orgasmic sensations. Ella feels almost completely rigid in use, making applying pressure easy, while the broad head comfortably introduces users to g-spot play. It's a gentle feeling, not poking or sharp.

With either end, the light "ridges" on the inside curve of the body provide gentle stimulation to the vaginal opening. These aren't terribly intense, nothing like big ridges on a glass toy and I really have to concentrate to notice them, so I would not worry too much about them being uncomfortable.

Care and Maintenance

The Ella should not be used with silicone lubricants as they can bond with her silicone material and create a goopy mush that will leave the toy deformed. A water-based lubricant is your best choice for keeping Ella slippery.

As a silicone dildo with no electronic components, Ella is very easy to clean and cleaning can be accomplished in a number of ways. Ella can be wiped down with a 10% bleach solution as long as you're mindful to rinse thoroughly before your next play-date. Toy wipes can be used for convenient cleanup. Ella can be cleaned in a dishwasher or boiled on the stove-top since her silicone has a higher melting point than when water boils.

LELO recommends not using a cleaner that contains alcohol, petrol, or acetone.

Care should be used especially in cleaning if she's being shared between partners or if used anally, and no toy should ever be used anal-to-vaginal without a thorough cleaning in-between.

Ella can be stored very nicely in the box or the toy pouch she comes with, whatever you do, just keep her out of direct sunlight and in a cool and dry place away from other toys. Make sure to keep away from sharp edges, as even Ella's firm silicone could rip if the material were to be punctured or cut.

Packaging

Luxurious!

Along with Je Joue, this is the most truly elegant and luxurious toy packaging I've ever seen. It's sumptuous and inviting. The packaging is discreet and would make a lovely gift for a lucky someone.

The outer box is a lovely purple, with "LELO" in gold on the top. This box is not discreet, however, as the Ella is pictured on the bottom, and small lettering in the upper left indicates "pleasure object" and the sides describe the toy.

Inside this is a black, high-quality cardboard box with "LELO" again in gold. The box opens to reveal the Ellaa, held in place in sold-feeling plastic cradle, with a clear plastic insert molded above her so she doesn't rattle around. Removing Ella from the cradle, there are two holes that facilitate lifting it up, exposing the manual, warranty booklet, and a sample of LELO's glycerine and paraben free personal moisturizer. As well, it contains a black silky drawstring toy bag with a LELO label in the seam. I love that they include a toy bag, that makes me so happy. Ella fits snugly in it and the drawstring is secure without even tying it. Perfect for less-bulky storage or travel.

Ella's manual is not quite as extensive as Leaf's, but it covers the basics and would instruct a new user how to safely lubricate and clean the toy.

The warranty is valid for 1 year against faulty workmanship or materials, and LELO's 10-year guarantee gives you 50% purchase of a new toy if the Ella breaks after the initial warranty period is over. While Ella is much less likely to break than the intricate parts of a vibrator, LELO's generous warranties are still offered.

Experience

Ella was my second success with a dildo, and the first time I've ever felt my g-spot! Ella was a good bit bigger than my first dildo, the Tantus Theta, and so I did use the tapered end to work my way up the to g-spot tip and this worked very well.

I do wish that perhaps there had been a stop between the Theta and Ella, perhaps a softer 1.5" toy, but it worked out after a bit of stretching.

I'm absolutely thrilled with Ella. I didn't know what to expect from it, or if she would find my g-spot at all. Finding my g-spot has added a new dimension to play with toys, and a whole new sensation. I haven't experienced an orgasm solely from using this toy, but when paired with a clitoral vibrator, I find I have much deeper-feeling and more intense orgasms.

I do experience this toy trying to "turn" inside me, so I have to be mindful to keep the curve pointing upward so it provides g-spot pressure. This isn't a toy for thrusting, really, I've found rocking it up and down and a bit of wiggling to be what it does best.

Ella is a great toy that I look forward to using, and has certainly sparked my interest in other shapes, materials, and textures for g-spot play.
