Great Sensations, but long-term problems?

The Life is pricey, but beautiful. If you are looking for something special for your first vibrator, this is a great choice. On the other hand, if you need lots of patterns and variety, this might not be the toy for you.

Use

The Leaf Life was my first clitoral vibrator, and that is what it shines at. It's a good introduction to the vibrator world for people who have never tried one before. It looks rather artistic and not scary and phallic, and the controls are simple to use, with only a single button rather than the confusing array of options some vibrators offer. It's great for solo use or for couples. Although it is primarily meant for the clitoris, if you are feeling adventurous you can try using it internally if you are careful.

Material / Texture

The Life is covered in a gorgeous green 100% silicone, which has a soft and velvety feel. There is a little smell when you sniff it directly. Until I wrote this review I never tried tasting it, but now that I have licked it I can report that it tastes...normal? Kind of like plastic or some other inedible substance? Anyway, if you are looking for a vibrator to eat you might want to pick a tastier one. I just use it for sticking on my clitoris, so I don't mind.

Design / Shape / Size

The design is gorgeous--shaped like a stylized and artistic leaf, coming to a little flexible point at one end which is perfect for getting intense sensations targeted to a very small area. It is the perfect size to fit in my hand.

The design also makes it very discreet--it is not at all obvious what it is. I took it with me on an extended trip to a country rather more conservative than the US and didn't have any problems at all with suspicious puritanical security types.

This is a good toy for beginners and advanced users alike. People who are just starting out can use the point to explore sensations on different parts of their bodies. If you are more advanced, the Life is small enough to be inserted vaginally, though it is a bit tight and awkward and, frankly, not all that ideal for that purpose. But, hey, it's fun to try once.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Leaf series differs from most high-end vibrator lines in that their products don't come with a lot of patterns. In fact, they come with no patterns, only a steady buzz whose intensity goes from mild to pretty strong. If you are a fan of variety, this might not be the toy for you.

The controls are easy to use: press the button briefly to turn the Life on and to increase the intensity; press and hold to turn it off. The noise is pretty discreet--someone else in the room will notice that it's on, but it's not going to alert the neighbors and the sound doesn't carry outside the room.

Care and Maintenance

The Life is easy to care for. Just spray on some cleaner for silicone toys, or just use water and a paper towel, and store it in that nice natural woven bag that it comes with it. Since it is silicone, use only water-based lubes with it.

Packaging

The Leaf comes in a nice box that can work as a gift box (if you like sharing the joy of clitoral vibrators with others), which is made of 100% recyclable materials (if recycling vibrator boxes strikes your fancy). Inside are instructions, the charger, the Leaf itself, and a nice bag for storage.
    • Recyclable
    • Would make a nice gift
