I love my life!

I love my Life! I really like the ergonomic shape, and the press and hold button is awesome. The vibrations are strong enough for me, and they are really low and not at all buzzy. Plus, it's rechargeable and the battery lasts quite a while. I sometimes accidentally turn on the travel lock, but I love the other features enough that this doesn't really matter.

Use

This vibe is primarily clitoral. You could use it for penetration, but it's small with a base that tapers off, so it's not easy to hold for penetration, and its size makes penetration not really worthwhile anyway. That said, it's a really awesome clit vibe! It can be used all over the body, though the silicone is a bit grab-y for that to be really nice. (See texture, below.) (Note: it shouldn't be used anally, since it has no flared base.)

Life should work for anyone who wants an external vibe. It's small and ergonomic, so it's a good choice for partnered sex, as well as solo adventures.

This isn't a very advanced toy - it's a good choice for beginners. The pointed tip isn't for everyone, but the toy can just be flipped over and used on the curved side. The functionality is quite simple, so it's a good choice if you're new to toys - no complicated buttons and settings to figure out. (Of course, if you like vibration patterns, this might not be your favourite.)

Material / Texture

Life is made from body-safe silicone (yay silicone!). The silicone is a bit on the grab-y side, so it does pick up some lint, but it isn't as bad as some other toys. The surface is matte, not shiny. There is a line down the middle, but it can't be felt during use. There are manufacturer's labels near one end (by the charging port and button), but they are at the end that isn't used on the body, and I've never noticed them during use. There is a slight bump over the button - it's so slight that it can be hard to feel easily, so it doesn't have a noticeable impact on the toy's texture.

The toy is quite stiff, with a liiiittle bit of flexibility at either tip (more at the smaller end) - but not enough to really impact use.

The texture is about as non-threatening as you can get. The grab-y-ness of the silicone means you might want to use a bit of lube, even if you're just using Life externally, but even raw beginners should be fine with the texture.

There is no noticeable smell or taste to the toy. There was a little bit of "new toy smell" at first, but that went away when the toy was washed.

Design / Shape / Size

The shape of Life is really great. Before I bought this toy, I thought that "ergonomically designed" sex toys were just marketing nonsense -> not true! Holding the Life is actually weirdly comfortable - it fits into my hand really well, and I don't have to contort my arm weird ways to use it. Visually, too, it's really pretty - GREEN! I am super in love with the colour. (So very sick of pink and purple sex toys.) The shape is also really nice - it looks very "designed" and swish-y.

The size is just about my favourite size for a clit vibe. It's slightly longer than the palm of my hand, just under three fingers wide at the widest part, and tapering to less than a finger's width at the tip. I can almost hide it if I close my hand (which is nice if I have to sneak by roommates). It's so small that it's pretty easy to hide in your room - plus the "designed" shape means it's not necessarily immediately obviously a sex toy.

It's not an intimidating size at all, and even beginners should be comfortable with it. It's small enough to travel well (and it has a travel lock - see the next section).

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Life is controlled by one button. One click to turn it on, hold the button to increase the vibration strength, another click to turn it off. There is a green light on the button that is on when the toy is on. The button has a slight raised bump over it, but the bump is slightly larger than the button, so it is quite easy to push the bump but miss the button - but then you just shift your finger slightly. It's not at all difficult to push the button, it's just easy to be slightly off the right place if you're ...distracted, since the bump is so slight. Holding to increase the strength is good and bad - it's a nice, easy, intuitive control function that is easy to remember and use, but it is easy to turn the toy off accidentally when you want it to get stronger. Of course, it's easy to turn it back on again, but still.

The vibrations range from quite soft to decently strong. They don't compare to, say, the Wahl or the Hitachi, but the high setting is about the same as the Mimi on high. The press-and-hold function is really nice because you can pick exactly what level of vibration strength you want. The vibration quality is really nice, too: even on high it is not buzzy at all. The vibrations are mostly in the body towards the tip (the end without the button), but the very tip of the vibrator (the flexible part) don't have any vibrations in it (though it does transfer them quite well).

There are no vibration patterns - I like this toy so much that I don't care, but if your favourite part of vibrators are the patterns, this might not be the toy for you. You could create your own patterns by turning it off and on, but...

Three quick clicks turns on the travel lock. This is a nice but kind of irritating function. I've accidentally turned on the travel lock before by accidentally turning the toy off, and hitting the button quickly twice trying to turn it on again. I didn't realise this for a while - if it suddenly stops working, before you swear at it, try clicking three times, then clicking again. The green light under the button flashes once when the travel lock turns on or off.

Of course, it might just need to be charged. Once of my favourite things about the Life is that it's rechargeable! It comes with a wall plug - a red light will glow on the toy near the plug when it's charging - when that turns off, unplug the toy. A charge lasts quite a while - I usually use Life a few times before charging it. Even with an incomplete charge cycle, the battery lasts quite well.

This toy is extremely quiet. Even on high, it's barely audible - you can barely hear it under the covers. It has made a little bit more noise if I hold it in a weird way, but it still can only just be heard through the covers.

The toy is waterproof - I've used it in shower just fine.

Care and Maintenance

This toy is really easy to clean. The texture doesn't complicate things, and it's waterproof, so it's really easy to wash in the sink. (It has a motor in it, so don't try boiling it!)

Life is coated in silicone, so whatever you do, don't use silicone based lubes with it. Stick to water based lubes if you don't want to destroy your expensive toy!

I store my Life in the cloth bag in came in. The Life is small enough that storing it shouldn't be a problem.

Packaging

The Life came in a really nice box. It isn't exactly decorative (I probably wouldn't use it as a gift box), but it's a very sturdy box with a magnetic closure. (I use the box to keep things in.) You can tell the packaging is going for a "green" look - it's a cardboard brown with minimal writing on the front. It isn't obviously a sex toy - the box does say "natural pleasure" and "www.leafvibes.com" but it's in quite small writing, and everything else on the box is fairly innocuous. If you have snoopy parents or roommates, though, they might be able to figure out what it is.

It also comes with a brown-y-beige drawstring storage bag, which is quite well constructed and has the Leaf logo in one corner. This is what I use to store my Life.
