Contour M - massager discontinued by Jimmyjane - review by removedacnt

My husband works very hard and has a lot of aches and pains. Several years ago he had a professional massage and I still hear about how much he loved it. So I decided to give him a treat and ordered several things to give him to an all over body massage.

One of the things I ordered was the Jimmyjane Contour M massage stone. According to Jimmyjane Contour Ceramic Massage Stones offer a modern take on traditional hot stone massage. Made of double-fired porcelain, they're bio-compatible, durable and easy to clean. With smooth, polished surfaces, they glide over the skin, relieving tension as they go. According to my husband it's wonderful.

The Contour M massager is 3 by 3 inch dome shaped rounded square. The top is where the smooth dome side is and the bottom has 4 protruding nodes, one at each corner. The middle of the underside looks scooped out and you can fill it with massage oil from their Afterglow massage candles. It is white with the Jimmyjane logo printed on the top in silver, and the surface is very smooth.

The massager can be warmed by putting it in hot or warm water. Jimmyjane does specifically say not to put it in the microwave. Or it can be cooled by placing it in the refrigerator for a while.

One of the reasons I purchased this specific stone as opposed to the others that Jimmyjane makes, is that it has so many different ways to use it.

According to the included instruction manual, the large dome on top can be used for broader shallower strokes. The multi-node, using all for nodes, are good for multi-point stimulation of the muscles, kind of like using your fingertips. Or you can just use a single node for deep stimulation to a specific area. This stone can use this with any type of massage oil or lotion. We used it with a JJ Afterglow massage candle, and it worked beautifully.

As with all Jimmyjane products this stone and the packaging it comes in are very classy and worthy of gift giving. And the box it comes in is great for storing the massage stone when not in use. There is also a helpful booklet that comes with it. It has instructions on how to use it and how to care for it, plus a section with safety warnings.

To clean the massager JJ recommends using a very mild dish detergent, rinsing it off with water and towel drying it. It should not be washed in the dishwasher.

As I said I was giving my husband an all over the body massage. I used the Contour M in conjunction with my hands. I don't have very strong hands and it was super helpful in making it possible to massage his whole body without me tiring out. It also was super helpful in my being able to use more pressure than I normally can. I warmed it for a little bit at first with hot water from the sink, and that helped to take the chill off. But I think next time I will let it set in fairly hot water for a while for even more temperature effect. I used all the different methods described, depending on what area I was massaging. I found that the multi-node was great for massaging down and near the spine, and the backs of his legs. The single-node method worked really well at getting out specific kinks that he had, and for smaller areas like the bottoms of his feet. And the large dome worked well for all over general massaging.

So did he think it was as good as the professional one he got? Probably not. I don't really know a lot about giving a great massage….yet. I'm learning though and this massager was super helpful and I will definitely use it quite often. He did say he really enjoyed it, and I think he felt a little looser once it was over. I know he felt a lot friskier.

This stone is wonderful! My husband recently used it on me for the first time and I loved it. Normally he is not the best at giving massages. But with the help of this stone, and a bit of direction from me, he actually gave me an awesome back massage for the first time.

I'm also still loving how it saves my hands from aching when I give him massages.

And since this is made to last, I know we'll both be enjoying it for many years to come.
