But Italian authorities didn’t even know where Caligula’s tomb was until they intercepted a man attempting to smuggle a statue of the emperor out of the country. The statue bore the tell-tale “caligae” military boots that gave the infamous Roman the nickname Caligula, or “little boots.” It’s authentic, experts say, and the statue has been valued at a million Euros.
Once nabbed by the archaeological squad of Italy's tax police, the tomb raider ’fessed up as to the whereabouts of the emperor’s final resting place, and now some very happy archeologists are well on their way towards digging up all the rest of little boots’ treasure. We’re betting they find at least one or two sex orgies carved in marble.
