The Swedish police recently enlisted the help of a unique individual with an uncanny ability to sniff out sperm. Before you dust off your passport and think “I can turn my hobby into a job!” the sperm-sniffer in question is a dog.
We’ve all heard of dogs who aid law enforcement by sniffing out drugs or dead bodies but now they’re being joined by Rapports Opus, the only sperm-sniffing dog in southern Sweden. Just recently, Rapports Opus helped to provide evidence against a 23-year-old man arrested for forcing a woman to perform oral sex in Karlskorna Park. The Local reports that “On top of a medical certificate testifying to bodily damage, witnesses who've spoken with both the victim and the accused, as well as a witness who overheard the act,” the police have the forensic evidence found by the dog, who discovered traces of semen at the crime scene that matched the DNA of the accused man. This is the first time evidence discovered by Rapports Opus, who graduated from the dog academy less than a year ago, will be used in court.
One question: Rapports Opus? Shouldn’t he be called something like Spunky? Or Shooter? Or Hot Shot? At any rate, if you tell him “Come here, boy!” he probably looks bored and says “Duh.”
