My Vamp Has a Dark Secret

You don't have to be a Twilight fan to love this vamp. Not only is this dildo beautifully made from high-quality silicone, it's a fantastic toy for beginners wanting to move up to a toy with more girth. The head may catch on your pubic bone, but the feel of this toy and the soft silicone is worth it.

Use

One reason I chose the Vamp out of Tantus' many shapes and sizes of dildos is that it was just a stretch above the largest item I've taken vaginally. At 1.5 inches in diameter, the Vamp is great for those looking to gradually increase the girth of their toys. I wanted to provide a fun way to introduce my vagina to a larger object so that penetrative sex could be more enjoyable. Keep in mind, the Vamp is intended simply as a dildo and as such, does not contain a hole for a bullet to be inserted. It has a flared base that is idea for use in a harness and would provide a good base if used with a dildo-compatible piece of Liberator furniture. It could also be used for anal play without a harness since the base is quite sturdy.

One noticeable feature of the Vamp is its extremely pronounced head. For some this can create a pleasurable 'popping' sensation as it is removed, for others it might be painful to thrust past the pelvic bone in either direction. While I found the first few tries a bit painful, the silicone allows for some 'wiggle room' and I began to get used to the shape of the toy after a few more uses.

Material / Texture

The Vamp is made out of Tantus's high-quality silicone, so you're getting one of the best materials offered on the sex toy market. It can be easily washed with soap and water or boiled for complete sterilization. The silicone creates a solid feel with a little bit of give that is much more forgiving than glass or wood. It also provides a softness upon insertion as well as some flexibility in the dildo. Personally, I love the feel of Tantus silicone but be advised, you should use it with lube to avoid unnecessary drag on your sensitive areas. The material also picks up lint and dust easily, so rinse this dildo before use if possible (even if stored in a plastic bag).

Design / Shape / Size

I love the design of the Vamp. It retains the pronounced head and basic shape of a well-formed penis but without the extra folds. A few veins run up the shaft of the dildo but they are not well-pronounced. I found that they created a nice smooth shape to the shaft without making it look dull and symmetrical.

In colour is where my Vamp differs from most. I was lucky enough to snatch one of Tantus's limited edition Dark Vamp dildos, which is identical to the Vamp in shape and size but cast from a different colour silicone. While the original Vamp is a milky skin colour with a shimmery sheen in the sunlight, mine is a deep purple with a few spirals of black running throughout. Since I'm not personally a fan of white I jumped at the chance of getting a different colour Vamp, but I've seen the original in stores and it has a beautiful luster that I have not seen in any other dildo.

Dark Vamp

As mentioned before, the Vamp is 1.5 inches in diameter and supposedly 6 3/4 inches in length. I haven't checked the length measurement, but I haven't had any kind of problem hitting my cervix with the head even with the dildo fully inserted. For those who have had children or participate in a lot of sexual activity, the Vamp might be an average size. For me, it's the largest toy I own so far.

Performance

So far, the Vamp has out-performed my expectations. I was hoping for a good dildo for dilation but I expected quite a bit of pain from both the pronounced head popping across my pelvic bone and from the girth. The first time using the Vamp, I spent about an hour working up to taking the full width into my vagina. It took a lot of water-based lube and a lot of slow easing. Each time after that, insertion became faster and easier. There is still a popping sensation going past my pelvic bone but I've gotten better at turning the dildo as it comes out to avoid most of the pain.

I did also try out the Vamp in my Spareparts Joque harness, though not for pegging in any capacity. Instead I walked around with it, slapped my partner in the face with it, and made him suck on my gorgeous dildo. It was a lot of fun! The Vamp worked well in the harness and I didn't find it flopping around too much.

Care and Maintenance

In order to care for your Vamp, make sure to clean it with soap and water after every use. Another alternative is to boil your toy in water -- this is essential if you are sharing with multiple partners as you should completely sterilize your dildo. Another option is throwing it in your dishwasher.

For storage, try to keep the Vamp in a ziplock bag. The material picks up lint and dust easily and I suggest rinsing off the surface before each use.

Packaging

My Vamp came in Tantus's new and more-environmentally-friendly packaging, which consists of a clear plastic bag held together by a cardboard title tag that is stapled across the opening of the bag. While the packaging is nothing to go crazy over, I appreciate Tantus's efforts to reduce the amount of waste associated with each of their toys. You can choose to store the Vamp in the plastic packaging but it's better to transfer your dildo to a ziplock bag since the original packaging can't be re-sealed easily.

Also, keep in mind that this dildo is NOT in any way discreet. The clear packaging means that anyone who stumbles across the Vamp will have no doubt in their mind that it is a dildo.

Personal comments

I originally heard about this as the "Twilight Dildo", but don't let the Vamp's reputation keep you at bay if you don't enjoy the Twilight series. You don't have to pretend you're fucking a cold vampire to enjoy this toy.

That being said, the Vamp has been manufactured to handle temperature play quite well. I haven't tried it myself, but you can heat up or cool down the Vamp in water just like with glass toys. Apparently you can also stick it in the fridge for a little while since silicone won't shatter. It sounds like a lot of fun!
Follow-up commentary
I didn't know it was possible, but the Vamp has actually grown on me. It's still large and hard to insert a lot of the time, but I love it. I absolutely love it. It's filling and the smallest movement feels fantastic on the inside. Plus I've gotten to use it as a strap-on and I fucked someone's mouth. That's always a fantastic feeling.

Thanks for a great review and follow-up! I'm usually more of a fan of dual-density silicone, like Vixskin, but Vamp does look like a high-quality dildo.
