The massage candle by Shunga is a soy based candle that is best used for couples massage or it can be used for individual use for moisturizing the skin after a bath or shower. As always, be sure to test out the oil on a small area of skin before the candle is dispersed onto the full area. There could be the possibility of an allergic reaction, so always do a skin test first to make sure. This massage oil will work on many skin types. I have normal skin and my partner has normal to oily skin. It worked on both of us with no problems. We used this product in a bedroom setting and things worked well for us. We did try it out in the shower together, without the water actually on us to see how it worked, but it wasn't so great. It's not as waxy as other candles so we both really liked it better than some of our other store bought candles. The scents were the best part. This candle worked better than the massage candles that we purchased at the Hustler store this weekend. Those had more of a waxy feeling.







The massage oil rubbed nicely into the skin of my partner and myself. I used a quarter sized amount on his upper back and it blended nicely. I used another quarter sized amount on his lower back. I liked the way it felt on my hands while I was rubbing it on his back. Once we did the sensual massage, we went to the shower and took the candle with us, we attempted to use it in there but we got preoccupied and just used it as a light. It was perfect and it left a lingering scent of the wonderful smell in the bathroom for a few hours after.

The little spoon that is included in the tin to scoop out the oil works nicely to transfer it onto the skin. Be careful as the spoon doesn't hold much, and it's easy to spill it if you have to move it a very long distance. We actually poured it out of the tin for the most part because we found that it worked better that way for our use. We just didn't like how the spoon was so small. We had to keep dipping the spoon in several times to get the right amount of oil, and sometimes we lost some of the oil on another area of the body or pillowcase, while moving it.





We also liked having the candle lit just for the scent. It provided just the right amount of dim lighting for our hotel suite. The scent that filled the air was so Heavenly. I like these so much that I've purchased most of the scents.

This candle turns into a nice oil when lit for a longer period of 30-40 minutes. The oil is not as waxy as the Tantric brand. It does feel a little waxy but not enough that it bothers me. The Shunga candles do have a waxier feel than the Kama Sutra candles.

I do like the Shunga candles and their other products. You could always use the other bath and body items that Eden sells here and incorporate them into your candle or bedroom play.

The Shunga massage candles would be a great gift for a lover or a bridal shower gift.

Do not use the oil from this candle on broken skin and don't use it internally. It's made for external use only. The candle has ingredients that are not to be placed inside mucous membranes. Do not attempt to eat the candle, it is not edible. Definitely keep away from children. They can get burned or possibly poisoned.

We love to use the product for foreplay first and then we continue to use it for lighting. The candle is two really nice gifts in one.

Another tip that I wanted to point out, is to always trim your wick. If you don't trim it, the candle can burn unevenly, or have a large flame. Make sure to blow out the flame before you pour the oil onto the skin. It can cause burns, if not distinguished properly.

When you first receive the candle and open it up, It's in a hardened state. You can't push your finger down into it easily. You have to press pretty hard to make an imprint in the candle. If you rub your finger around the candle, it's very smooth and has a slick feeling but it's not too oily. It's not too thick and it doesn't leave a heavy film on the skin when cold.

Once the candle has been lit for around 30-40 minutes, it will begin to have a large pool of oil around the wick. To fill the entire top with oil, your time may vary, depending on the temperature of the room. When the hot oil is poured onto the skin, it doesn't burn. This particular candle didn't burn my skin. I actually liked the temperature of the oil. Maybe I just like hot wax dripped on me. Not everyone will like or agree with the temperature of the oil. You can test it on yourself or your partner before pouring a large amount on the skin. There may be nothing worse than getting burned in the heat of the moment. If you feel that it is to hot, you can blow out the flame and allow it to cool until it reaches the temperature that you or your partner are comfortable with. It pours just like an oil while in the heated liquid form.






The oil didn't clump up or splatter when it was hot. It poured nicely and evenly onto the skin. Some of the candle was clear and some was a little thicker. The longer it burns, the clearer it becomes.

Once the candle is poured on the skin and massaged, it becomes a bit thicker. If you're in a room where the temperature is warm, it will stay in the form of an oil longer. If you are outside using the candle on a hammock or beach on a warm summer night, it may stay in liquid form much longer. On a chilly night, it's going to harden up quickly.

Once the candle hardens on the skin from a cold temperature, it becomes a faint white color if you used a lot. If you used a minimal amount, it will not be able to be seen. It will just feel a little thicker with a hint of wax.

Water will bead off the oil while it's on the skin. It never became sticky on the skin, even when the oil cooled. It just felt like I had a heavy oil on.

The Shunga massage candle isn't made for tasting. Some of the ingredients are not to be ingested and I personally wouldn't taste something with all these ingredients:


Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Coco Nucifera Oil, Fragrance, Prunus Dulcis Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius Oil, Persa Americana Oil, Sesamum Indicum Oil, Vitis Vinifera Oil, Sweet almond oil, Safflower oil, cinnamyl alcohol, benzyl salicylate,Tocopherol.

Although the ingredients are natural, always test out on a small area of the skin first.

I've purchased all of the scents except the vanilla. I like them so much that I have duplicates of a few of them. I wanted to have some on hand when we go on weekend getaways. I'm a candle lover and I always use candles for a romantic setting when we aren't using our regular lamps.
The scents are lovely and they aren't exactly gender specific. My partner likes all the scents that I've purchased.

-Lavender

-Fruit

I adore them all and it's hard to pick a favorite. I would have to choose the rose or lavender for my top candle. The scents are like no other that I've smelled before. I first received the lavender and it took me by surprise. These are not the generic scented candles that you would find at any local store.

The rose smells nothing like a real rose. It's a deep, passionate scent that is rich with floral notes and can fill a room up with the scent quickly. Every one of the scents that I've purchased were nice. They can be a bit strong if you are close to them for a long amount of time.

The lavender is an aromatic lavender in its purest form. It wows me every time. The scent is long lasting and fresh, with a hint of musk. I'm addicted to these candles.

The fruit candle almost smells of a mature, fruity bubblegum smell. It smells very yummy and would go well if you were feeding fruit to your partner during play time. These scents are lavish and they seem like they are an upscale candle that may cost much more than they do.

I have nothing bad to say about the scents. As a matter of act, I like them more than most of the Afterglow scents. I don't know if they are better than the Kama Sutra scents. I do adore those as well.

These splendid candles worked well for what we wanted. The massage oil worked for a very long and relaxing massage for my partner and myself. The oil moisturized our skin and left a nice scent behind. We took a shower after we had our massages and the product was still moisturizing our skin. It cleaned up easily in the shower. I used hot water to run on my back and buttocks, I used my hand to rub around those areas the best that I could. My hand removed most of the oil. What I couldn't reach, my partner used a soft cloth to get. I used my Aveda calming body cleanser on the cloth and within a few minutes, the scent was gone. It rinsed off easily and left no residue behind. The only thing it left was a moisturized feeling.

While we were using the oil, it does leave a slight shiny look to the skin. I had no problem with that. I could have left the oil on my skin but the scent is pretty strong, so I didn't want to sleep on my sheets and have the smell linger while I was sleeping.

I like the versatility of the candle. You can use it for wax play by pouring it. It can be spooned over the body and it can be used for romantic lighting. I didn't have any issues with this candle. I own about 4-5 of them, so that should say something.

It never dried up on me, it always kept a moist feeling on my body.

The candle comes in a small black tin with a removable lid. The lid is predominantly black with a silver edging around the lip of the lid. The top of the lid had a circular photo in the middle of it and there are a male and female with their faces together. The female looks as if she's holding a candle in her hand. They are both looking at each other very intensely. The lid has writing on it such as:

The actual tin has writing on it, in many languages.

The instructions on it are as follows:
Light the candle, wait 20 minutes and extinguish the flame. Pour the melted wax into the palm of your hand. (The oil will be warm, but not burning hot). Gently apply oil on your partner's body and enjoy the subtle aroma and warm effect, combined with a sensual massage that will help you both discover exciting intimate moments.

There is also a caution on the can:
Extinguish flame before using oil. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Place the candle on a level- heat resistance surface, and away from any draft and from flammable materials. keep wick trimmed to 1/4". keep out of reach of children.

Below that, there is information on the Shunga company. The tin also states that the candle will last for 45 hours.


The tin is New Wt. 7 oz. or 200 ml.

The candle was made in Canada.

There were no user instructions included with any of my Shunga candles.

The tin is:

I can open the candle with one hand if I don't have any wax on my hands. It's easier to use two. I just simply pull off the lid to open it, and I push the lid straight down to seal it. There is a nice, tight seal on here. The candle doesn't leak and it didn't have any oil floating around inside when I received it. The included spoon is 3" long. The candle weighs 8.4 ounces when it's new.

The candle is nice enough to leave out in the home, in the open. There is no nudity, sexually explicit photos, or writing on the tin. It would be nice to be given as a gift for this reason.

I enjoy having this candle in my collection. I actually enjoy having all the scents that I mentioned above. I'm going to order the last one that I do not have (Vanilla). These are pretty high up in my list of massage candles, and I have quite a few. This is our go to candle when we go out of town for a romantic getaway. It's used as lighting for our room, a massage oil for play, and a moisturizer for our skin.

It's just an all around nice candle that will work for many people, all you have to do is decide on the scent that you like best. In my case, I love them all. They smell amazing and as soon as these are used up, I will definitely be adding more to my collection. I hope Eden Fantasys continues to carry these. I only have great things to say about these candles from Shunga.

Clean up is very easy with this candle. I dripped a little on my pillowcase one night and I put some spray treatment on the spot, and placed the pillowcase in the wash and the oil came out. I was very pleased with that.
