The vibrator equivalent of the high school band geek

The Eroscillator is sturdily constructed and has intensity levels that range from "warming up" to "near-instant orgasm." It never has to be recharged or have its batteries replaced, and its 12-foot cord means you can use it almost anywhere in the room. This is not a novelty toy, but rather a medical-grade device that is very effective at helping women reach orgasm.

extremely useful review
If you are willing to spend over $100 on a sex toy and you enjoy clitoral stimulation, I highly recommend that you go with the Eroscillator. It’s not the most glamorous-looking of the high-priced toys that are available these days. In fact, its color is a run-of-the-mill copper and it looks, on the whole, like an electric toothbrush with a really long cord. You might compare it to toys like the Form 6 and the Sasi – toys that look so sexy and upscale that you’re tempted to keep them out on your bedside table just to admire – and think the Eroscillator is not worth your hard-earned sex toy dollars. But that would be your mistake! If the sex toy world were a teen romantic comedy, toys like the Form 6 and the Sasi would be the equivalent of the good-looking prom kings: they’re gorgeous and every girl would love to be ravished by them, but a number of girls have also found themselves disappointed after actually experiencing what the wonder-boy (or wonder-toy, if you’re still following this analogy) has to offer. The Eroscillator, on the other hand, would be the equivalent of the skinny band geek who looks a little awkward but is actually the better boyfriend/lover because he is loyal and totally devoted to making his girlfriend happy.

To put it more bluntly: the Eroscillator is not a pretty-looking toy. It doesn’t come in an upscale black box with a satin travel pouch. But it more than makes up for its homely appearance with its performance.

I bought my Eroscillator about a year ago, and I’ve used it almost every day since then. I had previously been a Hitachi Magic Wand and Wahl Coil user; I liked the more powerful orgasms that electric plug-in vibrators offered. Although I used to love my Hitachi and Wahl, they have languished untouched in my dresser drawer since the Eroscillator entered my life.

The manufacturers say that it's made of medical-grade plastic, and the toy seems very sturdy to me. (It’s held up just fine during a year of very frequent use.) The fact that the attachment heads are plastic means that you shouldn’t boil them the way you might a silicone toy; instead, you can clean them with warm water and mild soap. Although I find the attachment heads a little awkward at times (see “Experience” below), I have to say that they make cleaning easier, because I can get them very clean and then lay them out to dry while keeping the motor body of the Eroscillator safe and dry.

I wish the Eroscillator were a sexier-looking toy. I really do. But in a way, it teaches me an important lesson – sometimes homely external appearances can house something amazing. This is not a toy that gets heavily promoted by the major sex toy websites; it’s not one of those JimmyJane toys that you hear about Kate Moss using. But it is the best toy I’ve ever used, and I truly think every woman who enjoys vibrators should try it.
Experience
Why is the Eroscillator 2 Plus so much better than the other, less expensive plug-in toys available? For the exact quality that it prides itself on – it oscillates in a back-and-forth motion rather than vibrating in an up-and-down motion. Because of its unique oscillating motion, the Eroscillator 2 Plus never makes my clit feel numb. That is a HUGE accomplishment when you consider how freaking powerful this thing is! The Hitachi and the Wahl would often make me feel a little bit numbed if I used them for too long. With the Eroscillator, I feel deeply satisfied but never rubbed raw.

Essentially, the oscillating motion mimics the motion that your finger makes when you’re massaging your clitoris manually – except that it does that motion at a far higher frequency and intensity than you could ever manage manually, thus leading to the most intense orgasms I’ve experienced. I never feel like I’m being pounded by this toy. It never hurts me. But at the same time, I never feel like I need more power. At its highest speed, the Eroscillator always gets the job done for me.

Speaking of speeds, I like the fact that the Eroscillator has three speeds – low, medium, and high. I can start on the low when I’m warming up, moving the Eroscillator’s head over my external labia or using it over my underwear. Then, after I’ve warmed up, I will move up to medium, and then right when I’m about to come, I move it up to high. This little routine works very well.

The one feature of this toy that I wish were different (besides for its geeky appearance, which as I’ve said, ultimately kind of adds to its charm for me) is the way the heads snap onto the base. Sometimes I feel like I can’t get the head to snap on as securely as I’d like, and as a result the Eroscillator’s motor sounds louder than it usually does. (Although it should be noted that “louder” for the Eroscillator is still pretty damn quiet compared to other vibrators of this intensity.) This is only a “sometimes” problem, but still, I wish there were some way to get the attachment heads to snap on a bit more securely. I’ve never had an attachment head detach, though, even while using this during sex.

Speaking of the attachment heads, although I tried all of them initially, I quickly found my favorite one – the “marshmallow fingertip” attachment. The sad part for you toy-buyers out there is that this is not one of the attachments that comes with the Eroscillator; you have to buy it separately at an extra cost. I strongly encourage you to just buy it when you buy the Eroscillator, though. It provides the most focused sensations and its softness makes it non-irritating.

At first, I would never have given this toy a second look, but after reading about it I wanted one! [It remains high on my wishlist]

Great review (and really cute analogy). You made me want it even more!

It looks like a toothbrush because it was invented by a guy that used to make toothbrushes.. haha. I don't think it could be any prettier because well, the inventor only knew toothbrushes. lol. Good review. Smile

    Sleeping Dreamer,
Good point! I remember reading that fact in Mary Roach's book "Bonked." She claimed that the guy who invented the Eroscillator figured that vibrators were kind of like electric toothbrushes in that you want to stimulate sensitive tissue without damaging or irritating it. I'm so glad this toy got invented!

It's always nice to find reviewers who like the same toys that we like. We've had the Eroscillator for about ten years now, and it's still our favorite vibrator too. Thanks for the review.
