(Acai & Blue Lotus) I love it but it's a little sticky.

The Body Mist Lotion from DONA smell really good and I love that it absorbs quickly. The only thing I dislike is the light tacky feeling it leaves on my skin. Other than that it's a good product and you get a large bottle for a good price. It's paraben free and made of natural ingredients like passion fruit oil and actual aphrodisiac ingredients. It's exotic and fruity and makes my skin smell and look fabulous! The tacky feeling is a real turn off for me though.

Use

The Body Mist Lotion from DONA is an alternative way to moisturize your skin. It's part of step #3 (nourishing) of "The Aphrodisiac Infused Ritual." DONA has many other products in this collection that are meant to be used together in a certain order for a layering effect. Of course you don't have to follow the ritual but if you really love a particular scent it helps to layer the products to make the scent you love smell stronger and last longer. DONA's scents are very unique and infused with aphrodisiacs that are meant to make you feel sexy and supposedly make you sexually attractive to others. To use, all you do is spray it all over your body where you want moisture and then rub it into the skin. The lotion mist absorbs faster than a regular body lotion and it isn't thick or heavy like a body butter. It's a quick way to refresh and hydrate your skin without having to deal with the mess of a slow absorbing lotion. It's very light, clear, and absorbs so quickly you can easily use it anytime.

This product would be best for anyone that loves exotic fruity scents. The scent descriptions are a little difficult to describe so it's best to try a few products out and judge for yourself. It's a great alternative to regular lotion especially if you're the impatient type and hate waiting for lotion to soak into your skin. You can use this anywhere anytime!

This product is paraben free, cruelty free, natural, and free of petroluem. It contains natural seed oils, aphrodisiac ingredients, and fragrance. If you have very sensitive skin then it's recommended that you do a small spot test on your arm and wait 24 to see the effects. If you're highly allergic to seeds/nuts or anything like that this is probably not for you. I'll include the entire ingredients list further down below in my review.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

On the skin it appears to be similar to a sprayable body oil but it has bubbles in it. Especially if you spray up close in the same area over and over. Even from far away there's lots of little tiny bubbles. It's definitely because of the way the nozzle sprays the product out. It sort of reminds me of a bubbly liquid hand soap. It's slightly white from the foam/bubbles but the actual mist lotion is clear. In the bottle the actual formula is clear but it's very slightly cloudy and has a tinge of yellow to it. This applies to both of the bottles I ordered.

After it's absorbed it doesn't feel greasy, slick, or leave your skin oily looking at all. I hate to admit it but I'm disappointed with this product and here's why. It feels sticky! When you first apply it and rub it in it absorbs quickly but it leaves a slight tacky feeling. The more you use and the more you layer the tackier and stickier it starts to feel. It almost reminds me of a watered down soap. After waiting several minutes I could still feel slightly tacky. My skin was hydrated and looked nice but I felt like a lint magnet. This is my number one complaint with this product!

Taste / Aroma

With my order I got both Acai and Blue Lotus. The names of the DONA products are really the name of the aphrodisiac ingredient they contain. The scents are exotic and unique and smell differently to everyone. Both of the scents were really light and could only be smelled up close.

Acai - I love this scent! I'm not too familiar with what acai is supposed to smell like. It smells warm, fruity, and sort of like pomegranate. I haven't tried the pomegranate mist lotion and I'm not comparing it to that, I'm just saying that it reminds me of pomegranates or berries! It smells really nice! It reminds me of something I would love to wear in the fall or winter. A nice, yummy, fruity, warm berry scent. It makes me feel like snuggling up with a blanket and a good book.

Blue Lotus - This is a cooling and refreshing scent. It definitely smells like melon/cucumbers! When it dries it has a light sweet floral scent to it. If you try to imagine what a blue lotus would probably smell like I think the actual scent matches the description pretty well. It smells cool, fresh, and clean. I wish it smelled more like rain or the ocean rather than cucumbers though. I still like it anyway! It makes me feel calm and cool.

Performance

The body mist lotion absorbs well and my skin was hydrated for several hours afterwards. I'm really happy with the performance of this product because it did exactly what I expected it to do. It hydrated my skin and left it feeling healthy for a very long time. The sticky feeling annoys me though and the only way to get it off is to take a shower! I love what it does for my skin though and I love both scents that I chose. The only thing that I can't get over is the light tacky feeling.

I like that if I use it right after a shower it helps to seal the moisture in my skin before I even leave the bathroom. But the sticky feeling makes me want to take a shower all over again. I plan on putting the Blue Lotus spray in the fridge for those hot 100 degree weather days coming up soon! I bet it will be so refreshing, cold, and hydrating on my sun parched skin. Lately I've been using the sprays when I'm winding down for the evening about an hour or so before bed. I haven't had any issues with oily residue on my cotton sheets because it's not really oily or greasy at all. It makes my skin look shiny and glowy in a healthy way.

Overall, it's a very nice product and I would love it so much more if it weren't for the stickiness!

Packaging

The bottles are made of a thin clear plastic with black spray nozzles. Both nozzles have a clear cap on them to prevent leaks when traveling. They both have a sticker label that are very similar. There's a dandelion yellow background with a light caramel colored lace overlay pattern. At first I couldn't tell which spray was which because the bottles look exactly the same. But then I found that there's a very skinny colored stripe on the sides of the bottles with the names of the scents/aphrodisiacs. I'm not a big fan of yellow so I'm not wild about the packaging for these. I'd like it better if the bottles were the color of the small stripes on the side. For example, Blue Lotus was a light aqua blue and the Acai was a pretty lavender purple. It would make it easier and faster to grab the one you want if it was that obvious. Plus the bottles would be prettier!

The packaging is sort of discreet but it's a little sexy because of the words "aphrodisiac" and "seductive." It says, "Spray radiance all over your body. Light and transparent moisturizing mist. Superfruit and aphrodisiac-infused. Have seductive skin instantly." You could probably give this as a gift to any close friends, family, or anyone you feel comfortable with.

The nozzles have plastic caps on them so these would be good for traveling with. I didn't have any problems with the bottles leaking at all.

Special Features

DONA body mist lotions are infused with superfruit aphrodisiacs! Acai contains actual acai pulp oil and the Blue Lotus really contains blue lotus as an ingredient. Aphrodisiacs are supposed to make you feel sexy and make you more sexually attractive to anyone close to you. I'm not much of a believer in the power of aphrodisiacs but I love good smells and when I smell good I definitely feel sexier and more confident which is a major turn on!

Personal comments

I have to admit that I'm still not in love with the DONA products. I find the scents a little confusing and hard to choose from. The first thing I ever tried was the CamuCamu body butter. It's a great product but the scent was such a disappointment. If you want to read that review here's the link:
CamuCamu

Now that I've tried the body mist lotions I still have mixed feelings about DONA. These sprays worked really well but they were tacky feeling and I didn't like that at all. I don't think I'd purchase this product again because of that reason.

I'm not going to give up though. I'm still interested in trying the body lotion and the body wash. I love that all the products are paraben free and natural. The products work well. The little flaws just really get to me though.
Follow-up commentary
I love the idea of a mist motion but this just isn't working out for me. When I spray it on my skin it has almost a soapy kind of look to it. After I rub it in sometimes it feels really sticky and other time it doesn't. It's really strange. The more moisture there is in the air (like if you use a humidifer, live in a humid area, or there's a storm out) I've noticed that it stays sticky and tacky longer than if the air is bone dry from the air conditioning or heater. It moisturizes my skin but it isn't as good as my lotions and body butters. My legs get really dry from shaving and this just doesn't moisturize enough or last long enough.

I like to use the lotion mist sprays on my arms most often for a little pick me up after being outside in the summer heat. The blue lotus scent is really refreshing and nice. It's ok but I'm not really impressed. I'd say try it if you're really curious but maybe only try one bottle first to see if you like it or not. I honestly won't be ordering it again after these bottles are empty. I just really dislike the soapy/tacky feeling it leaves on my skin. The scents are nice though! If these were just body mists I'd like them a lot more.
