I'm a bit torn (Camu Camu)

I love the convenience of a spray lotion, and I do agree this moisturizes a BIT, but it doesn't replace a regular slather on lotion. The scent is sophisticated and complex and lasts a really long time. It's a much better body mist.

Use

DONA by System Jo has some really classic and interesting products in their new and very affordable line. This particular product claims to be a two in one - A body mist AND a lotion. Cool right? It's #3 on their steps to pampering yourself - nourish. It's infused with aphrodisiacs for a mood uplifting experience. The packaging also says it is free of cruelty, petrochemical derivatives and parabens. The bottle also states it is natural. It can be used to freshen up the skin and add some moisture. Instantly add a sheen gleam with Dona's Body Mist Lotion.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Being that this is a mist, it it very watery. It has a very slight oil property that makes it seem only slightly thicker than water. When it gets sprayed on it looks wet and comes out in a heavy stream. If you let it dry by itself it'll take away. Smoothing it around quickens the process, but isn't necessary. Either way it is easy to apply. Unfortunately, there is a little bit of a sticky feeling and it takes awhile for that to go away.

Taste / Aroma

Available in: Mangosteen, Goji berry, Camu camu, Pomegranate, Blue lotus, Acai

Camu Camu: The scent is extremely complex to me. It's hard to describe. I consider it to be a light, airy scent reminiscent of summer flowers and a mix of suntan lotion. A friend of mine smelled the lotion and could barely smell anything at all. To me, it sort of smells like a freshly washed baby, an organic but very sweet smell. Again, this has pheromones in it, so it won't smell quite the same to everyone. I honestly can't decide how much I like the scent. I think I could get sick of it eventually. It dos last a long time. The scent is still about 75% strong after 2 hours.

Performance

Putting on lotion couldn't be any easier. Just spray it on, no spreading is needed and your hands don't need to be washed afterward. A few sprays can cover a whole arm. The sprayer is easy to use and it actually dispenses quite a bit of product at once so that it covers a large area. The product will feel slightly sticky at first but adds a natural looks sheen to the skin as it dries. It does eventually dry to not be sticky. This takes about 30 minutes. The stickiness really isn't noticeable unless it's super humid outside, which unfortunately, it has been a lot of lately.

Magically the mist can be applied straight to clothing and not damage it. When I think of lotion I think of grease spots when applied to clothing. Nothing will occur with this mist. It lingers on clothing even longer than it does on skin. The spray does provide moisture too, but it's no where near even than of a moderately cheap lotion.

Packaging

The packaging is gorgeous and simple, as usual for DONA products. The mist comes in a very generously sized bottle. The bottle contains 8.5 fluid ounces (250 ml). That's PLENTY. I'd prefer that there were a smaller version of this for two reasons. 1. It could be traveled with a lot easier in a purse 2. I don't like being wasteful and can't imagine using all of this before I die! The bottle is clear and has a matte feeling label around the entire bottle. It's gold in color with a lace pattern The front describes the product in short while the back describes it in more detail. The pump top has a cap for safer travel. The top also screws off. It's suitable for travel and also looks pretty in a bathroom.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Does not leak
    • Would make a nice gift

Experience

I'm really not impressed with this spray. I think it's a sore excuse for a lotion. I'm impressed with how sophisticated the scent is and how long it lasts, but the stickiness and time it takes to go away completely makes this a body mist and not a lotion for me.
Follow-up commentary
I passed this onto a friend very quickly. After only a few uses, I still couldn't like it enough to justify keeping the large bottle around. Thankfully she likes it a lot better and says she uses the spray on her body before putting on her work out clothes for a run.
