Finally, a Comfy Coochy

I would absolutely recommend this product to a friend or anyone who is looking to reduce irritation caused by shaving. It can also be used to prevent chafing. This protection mist is safe to use anywhere on the body, has many botanical ingredients and is great for people with sensitive skin.

Use

Coochy after shave protection mist is a product designed to minimize irritation and bumps after shaving those sensitive areas, but can definitely be used anywhere. I have sensitive skin and this product works wonders for me, so I think this would be suitable for anybody looking to reduce the after-effects of shaving such as bumps, bleeding, razor burn, etc. I think the most imperative time to use the protection spray is immediately after shaving, though I use it every time I get out of the shower because I've found it to have more benefits than just what it's intended for. This product does contain Glycerin and Glycol, which some people may want to avoid depending on previous reactions to these ingredients.

The protection mist is full of great botanical extracts which are naturally soothing to the skin. A quick list of these extracts are: lavender, cucumber, camellia sinesis leaf, matricaria, licorice root, echinacea, wheat germ, raspberry, epilobium angustifoliu,, lillium candidum, sage, clover, oat and lavender.

The complete ingredient list is as follows:
Water, Glycerin, Propylene glycol, Butylene glycol, Polysorbate 20, Lavendula Agustifolia (Lavender) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Cumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glarbal (Licorice) Root Extract, Echinacea Agustafolia Extract, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Extract, Rubdus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract, Epilobium Angustifolium Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Lilium Candidum Bulb Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Trifolium Pratense (Clover) Flower Extract, Avina Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Lavandula Angustafolia (Lavender) Oil, Benzyl Alcohol, Polyquaternium-10, Potassium Sorbstat and Disodium EDTA.

In addition to its extensive botanicals, Coochy after shave protection mist is also animal cruelty, paraben and sulfate free. And sugar free, if case you planned on spraying it in your mouth.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The protection mist is a water based liquid and has the consistency of water. After you spray it on your skin, it does feel a bit sticky, but once it dries completely it forms a minimal film barrier upon your skin that is not unpleasant at all.

It comes in a pump bottle as a mist, and it gives a nice, even spray. A few sprays is all you really need to get the protection you desire. Let it dry for a few minutes, throw some clothes on and go about your day as usual.

Taste / Aroma

This product is not meant for human consumption, but I'm assuming since it's sugar free, it'd be safe for diabetics? Haha. Really though, I didn't taste it, and I strongly suggest you don't, either.

The aroma is strong when the spray is first applied, but diminishes once the product dries.

I had a really hard time trying to figure out the scent of this protection mist, so much that I even had other people smell it, and they couldn't pinpoint an exact fragrance, either. It is not masculine nor feminine, and I guess the best way to describe it would be, well, botanical. I think the scent that sticks out most to me is the hint of licorice and perhaps a bit of a floral, woodsy smell from all the various extracts. It is not unpleasant at all, and I find it to be quite refreshing.

Performance

In the way of personal care, I do believe this is the best $10 investment I've ever made.

I've never had a feeling that this product had worn off after a certain amount of time; it gives me protection all day long and I've never had to reapply. It is invisible, although if you touch the area it was applied, you can feel a thin film, but nothing that's uncomfortable or sticky/tacky.

In addition to preventing rash, itchiness and razor bumps, I've also found myself spraying Coochy protection mist on the inside of my thighs to avoid chafing if I am wearing a dress or a pair of shorts. It works wonders! As the bottle says, it can be used safely on any part of the body.

I truly can't think of one thing I dislike about this product.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Feels natural
    • Long lasting

Packaging

Coochy after shave protection mist comes elegantly packaged in a sturdy plastic bottle with a somewhat feminine label. Given that "COOCHY" is clearly written on the bottle, it is not discreet as to exactly what this product is intended for, but the label can either be removed or just simply turn the bottle around.

The instructions simply say to spray on the newly shaven area. The pump is able to spray with the bottle upside down if you happen to have any hard to reach places. It is safe to use anywhere on the body, minimizes pores and protects by forming a barrier between skin and clothing - but I've also found it forms protection between skin and skin.

The mist comes in the same 4 oz. bottle as Coochy's well known shave creme, just with a different label. It is a very pretty metallic light pink. Below is a comparison photo of the two products together. Same packaging except the shave creme has a liquid pump, and the after shave has a spray pump. They are both pictured without their clear, plastic caps, which are also sturdy.
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Very informative packaging
    • Would make a nice gift

Experience

I usually don't get overly excited for skincare products, but I am so glad I decided to purchase this. I used it immediately after shaving with Coochy shave creme (though this product is definitely compatible with any other type you prefer to use) and was pleasantly surprised with its nice, botanical scent.

I only used a few sprays and since it creates such a nice mist, it was able to cover my bikini line and area with ease. I let it dry for about 3 minutes, put on my clothes and experienced no irritation the rest of the day.

Despite using this great mist, I still get razor bumps, although they are much more minimal than they were before, and do not itch - at all. I use this spray on my bikini area every time I get out of the shower regardless if I had shaved or not. I like the barrier it creates and I want to stay itch-free.

I also used this spray on the inside of my thighs. It works great if you plan on wearing a skirt/dress or shorts. I have pretty thick legs, and my thighs do rub together. In the past, I would get severe chafing on the inside of my thighs if I were to walk long distances in shorts, especially if it was hot out. I tried baby powder and that helped a bit, but not enough to fix the problem. Now, I use the Coochy protection spray and it works like a charm. Never again will I go out in hot weather without spraying my thighs.

My mom also has quite large breasts, and has experienced chafing beneath them. She started using the spray as well, and has also had tremendous results.
Follow-up commentary
I don't still like it...I still love it! I still haven't had one itch and this has been great for chafing in this hot, humid summer. I definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to improve their shaving and skincare routine.
