This Fairy Packs a Punch!

The Fairy wands get compared to the Hitachi a lot, but in my opinion, I'd go for a Fairy first, because the controls are much easier to fine-tune, and from my experience, the Fairy Mini packs even more power than the Hitachi, and in a smaller package.

Use

I'm a fan of my Hitachi, but I wanted something less heavy. Enter the Fairy Mini, which--if you'll believe it--might be even stronger than the Hitachi. On top of that, it has a turn-dial speed adjuster, and a head that isn't ginormous. All in all, I'd point anyone looking at the Hitachi in this direction, first.

Material / Texture

The Fairy Mini is made of plastic, so the vibrations carry really well. The head is a little bit flexible, which is great if you like pressing your vibrator against you, like I do. I think anybody can use this, really. There are some little indented rings on the head, which make it really easy for an attachment to stay on there, but they're a bit of a task to clean.

Design / Shape / Size

The Fairy Mini is 10 inches long, which is just about the length of the Hitachi's handle, and it's much lighter. The shape is easy to hold, and your thumb can reach the dial to turn the power up or down very easily. Overall, it's a fantastic design, and it's very easy for anyone to use. It's about as discreet as a vibrating wand can be, but it also makes a very good back massager, in case anyone asks you why you have it.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The main point the Fairy Mini has in its favor when compared to the Hitachi is its controls. Instead of a low/high switch, it has a wheel that lets you fine tune the speed as much as you like. The vibrations are extremely strong, and from my perspective, even stronger than the Hitachi.

The only downside I can find is that if I use it for too long, my vulva feels a bit tingly, but I have to have it on for a really long time for that to happen. Also, since I have a king size bed, I've found that if I scoot too far away from where it's plugged in, the cord won't go any farther. Also, it's pretty darn loud, especially when I have it pressed against something. However, it's incredibly easy to use and fantastically strong, so the good definitely outweighs the bad.

Care and Maintenance

I'd recommend washing the Fairy Mini with soap and water, or toy cleaner. A 10% bleach solution should sterilize it, but be careful while cleaning so you don't get any water into the electrical components. I'd recommend wiping it down with a damp cloth or a toy wipe instead of putting it under running water. Also, take extra care while cleaning between the ridges, because dirt and bacteria can grow between them.
