This Fairy's Gonna Knock You Out!

The Fairy Mini is a strong, pretty, and unique little wand style massager that is part of the Media Craft Fairy series. If you like strong vibes, she should work for you, but Hitachi Magic Wand she is not.

Use

Can you really resist falling in love with a baby pink and white wand style vibrator with the word Fairy in its name? I didn't think so! Small in stature but strong in use, this little toy delivers intense vibrations that will make your clit quiver at the sound of her steady hum. The Fairy Mini is a powerhouse of a massager that can satisfy the most hard to please vibrator connoisseurs who want feminine colors, sleek handling, a storage bag, petite size that fits easily in the hand or between partners, and, of course, strong vibrations, all at a price that won't break the bank.

The Fairy Mini was designed to be a clitoral stimulator, but it excels at stimulating so much more. Use it on your back and shoulders, hamstrings, and even your feet to massage sore muscles and tension away. In the mood for something more? Turn the Fairy Mini loose on your breasts, nipples, and inner thighs to get your juices flowing. Want your partner involved? Use the Fairy Mini for an erotic couple's massage that starts with his pecs and teases its way down the happy trail to his perineum, taint, and shaft. Continue the fun by using this toy on yourself while your partner enters you and let the vibrations please you both.

This toy is so amazing and versatile that I think it can be used and loved by just about anybody. It's wonderful to use by yourself or with your partner, and whether you are looking for your first wand style vibrator or you have a large collection, the Fairy Mini offers something for everyone.

Material / Texture

The shaft of the Fairy Mini is covered in a snow white ABS plastic that is latex and phthalate free. If is very firm to the touch and has a lovely smooth, glossy finish. In the center of the shaft there is a pale pink, matte plastic that has a slight drag against your fingertips to help maintain your grip in use. The shaft has two seams running down each side of the body from the head almost to the cord, but they are not at all irritating. The little tail piece of the shaft is a small cone of smooth pink plastic, but it does not have the same drag or grippy feeling as the pink section in the middle of the shaft. Also, at the top of the unit it does say Fairy Mini in a beautiful plum color and cursive writing.

The neck of the toy is a rubbery, white plastic that has some give but is still firm, while the head is a very firm (much firmer than it looks) white plastic with 5 ridges running along the bottom. I thought the ridges might be painful in use, but they are surprisingly unnoticeable.

Straight out of the box, the toy does have a slight plastic smell (I think it was the neck piece), but it dissipated in the first hour. There is no noticeable odor since and no taste to the unit.

Design / Shape / Size

The shape and design of the Fairy Mini really are aesthetically pleasing compared to some other wand style massagers. At 10 inches long, it is about the length of my forearm. The way the Fairy Mini tapers and the small bulbous head on top make me think it looks like a little torpedo, and I think that's fitting since this thing is the bomb. (I couldn't resist the bad joke! Forgive me!)

The head measures 5.75" in diameter and is a little smaller than a racquetball. On its own, I think the head looks like a little mushroom for the way the cap sits on the neck. The shaft is 1.75" in diameter at its widest point and I can easily wrap my entire hand around the center of the shaft. This is great because that means I can easily grip the shaft of the Mini in my palm and use my thumb to control the power dial in the center of the pink part of the shaft. I LOVE that the Fairy Mini has a dial so you can control the amount of power you want. My biggest complaint though is that I have a hard time remembering which way to turn the dial to get where I want in use. I keep repeating that away from me is more power, but, in the heat of the moment, that all seems to fly right out of my brain.

The unit is weighty in the hand at a pound, with more of the weight concentrated in the upper part of the shaft under the neck. It is heavier than it looks, but I think it could still be easily manipulated by someone with hand or wrist problems.

Another minor drawback is that the cord of the Fairy Mini is 4.5' – not very long at all. I recommend an extension cord if your bed is not close to where you want to use the Mini.

Functions / Performance / Controls

I already mentioned my beef with the control wheel. It's great to be able to scroll through a variety of speeds, but I haven't quite gotten the hang of which way is more power and which way is less in use. It also makes a fairly loud clicking sound when you turn it on or off. The benefit of the wheel though is that you can power down really quickly, in less than 5 seconds, with a quick flick of the thumb.

Like most toys that plug into the wall, this baby is loud! There was another review that said the Fairy Mini sounds like a small jet engine taking off and there is no better description for the way it sounds. It may come in a small size and with a cute little storage bag, but if you're going to travel with it, don't expect it not to draw attention when you turn it on! It won't have to be on long though. The Fairy Mini gets results pretty quickly. This is a good thing because the shaft starts to heat up and gets uncomfortably hot at about 15-20 minutes of use.

The quality of the vibrations is a little more buzzy than I was hoping for. At the highest speeds the vibrations are at a high register and stay very "surfacey." I can't stay there for too long because it makes my clit start to feel numb. I do like the Fairy Mini on the lower speeds though because that's where the vibrations are in that lower, more resonating, deep, soul shaking register my clit prefers.

Care and Maintenance

Like all toys with a plug, the Fairy Mini is not waterproof. Wipe it down with a wet cloth and soap or toy wipes, but keep it out of the sink. You will have to take care to clean around all the ridges of the head and neck. I'm also struggling to think how I'm going to clean the little indentions of the click wheel as they will eventually get mucky. Hopefully, I'll have that figured out by my follow up review.

If you need to use lube, you can use silicone or water based lube with it, but I find this toy so powerful I use it through a sheet or some kind of clothing.

The unit came with a little pink drawstring storage bag, but I do have a tough time getting the cord in there easily with the toy. Also, I always make sure the Mini is cool to the touch before I put it in there, just to be safe.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The Fairy Mini came in a cute little pink box with the picture and logo on the sides. There was a lot of Japanese writing and no instructions, but the toy is intuitive enough that it's not a big deal. The cardboard is pretty flimsy; so, if you wanted to keep it in there you could, but I don't think the box would last long. Overall, I think the package is really pretty discreet and wouldn't have a problem giving it as a gift to someone I was close to.
    • Recyclable
    • Would make a nice gift

Personal comments

I tried really hard to leave a Hitachi comparison out of the body of this review to be fair to the Fairy Mini, but this is my personal section, so here I go. The Fairy Mini is not the Hitachi. I think the vibrations of the Mini are not as high quality and the "power" of the unit is all in the buzzy-ness of the vibrations. More power just to have more power is not helpful if it's the wrong kind of vibration for your body; and that's, unfortunately, how I feel about the Fairy Mini. I love it for a lot of other reasons though. I love its smaller size and the way it is easier to maneuver. I actually can use this with my partner during sex where I can't do that with the Hitachi. I love the click wheel so I can control the intensity and speed instead of the 2 options offered by the Hitachi. I love the colors and its feminine touch. This is a toy that I can love and enjoy as long as I'm not making the constant comparison to my other wand style luvah!

I am happy I purchased the Fairy Mini and appreciate it in its own right. I'd just caution others not to buy it thinking it's a smaller, more maneuverable Hitachi replacement because it's not. It's the Fairy Mini: a sweet, dainty, strong vibrator that has earned its own unique place in my toy box.
Follow-up commentary
I still like the Fairy Mini but I will admit I haven't used it much since I wrote my review. I have other toys that are more satisfying (i.e. have deeper vibrations) and cordless, so I have a tendency to reach for them first. The cord is also a little too short for my partner to use easily on me in bed. When I think about the Fairy Mini, I find myself thinking about my little sister or someone who is newer to toys and interested in a wand vibe.

I still think it is a great little vibe that delivers and is strong enough for even the toughest of clits, but I've spoiled myself with higher-end vibes that don't allow me to appreciate the Mini as much as I probably could have.
