Use

Dona Body Butter is one of the bath and body products by System JO. Body Butter is equivalent to a thick lotion; it is like a cream. This product is supposedly infused with an aphrodisiac, which would increase sexual attraction. Whether or not this is true, I cannot say. While both my partner and I enjoyed the smell, there didn't seem to be any marked difference in our behavior.

To use this product, apply it to dry skin to bring it back to a healthy state; otherwise, body butter can also be used on healthy skin to keep it looking as hydrated and smooth as possible! For best results, rub Dona Body Butter into the skin after a shower, when your pores are open; your skin is more likely to absorb the lotion and reap the benefits of the product. You can apply the butter all over your body, just remember that it is for external use only. I also do not suggest using this product on your face.

Furthermore, since this product is thick, it makes a great massage cream. In addition to coating the skin in a smooth lather, it will help with skin health. Who could ask for more?

Before using this product, you may want to do a spot test to ensure that your body does not react negatively. All you have to do is rub a small of body butter on your skin (usually on the arm or leg); wait a few days and check to see if there is any sort of redness or irritation. If everything is all right, then you can go ahead and use the product on the rest of your body.

Additionally, you may want to refer to the list of ingredients, especially if you are allergic to specific fragrance, oils, etc.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

When you open the container, you are met with a white lotion with brown specks. As I mentioned, the body butter is like a cream, so it is pretty thick. It actually reminded me a bit of ranch dressing.

Since the body butter comes in a tub, you will use your fingers to apply the product to your skin. The thickness of the product is very beneficial in this aspect; it prevents the cream from dripping or running. I found that the butter stayed put on my fingers until I applied it to my skin.

When the lotion is rubbed into the skin, a few of the brown specks remain. I didn't really mind them, but if you don't like it, you can wipe the dots away when the cream is completely dry.

Immediately after application, your skin will feel a little slick, but that is pretty typical with this type of product. After approximately 5 minutes or so, the body butter will completely dry. Other than a silky feeling to your skin, you don't be able to tell you are wearing any product.

Taste / Aroma

The blue lotus fragrance from the Dona bath and body collection was different from any product I had ever experienced. At first, when I opened the tub, I was hit with the scent of freshly washed cucumbers. I didn't have a problem with the scent, but I will admit, I was a bit disappointed.

However, when the product is applied to the skin, the fragrance completely transforms. The body butter takes on a light floral scent, which I found far more pleasant. The scent did linger for quite awhile after application. In fact, when my boyfriend got into bed next to me hours later, he was able to smell the body butter.

I cannot say what the product tastes like since the body butter is not an edible lotion. I do not recommend you try it either.

Performance

Even after just one application, this lotion did wonders for my skin. For the most part, my skin is quite hydrated, but I do have some problem areas, such as my knees. The Dona body butter kept my already-healthy skin in tip top shape, while moisturizing my drier areas. A little bit of this product goes a long way, so even though the container isn't huge, it should last for a decent amount of time.

While the body butter smells wonderful, I can't say whether or not the aphrodisiac in this product actually makes a difference. While my boyfriend did compliment the fragrance and the softness of my skin, there didn't appear to be any major difference in his behavior. Nor did I notice any change in my behavior or libido.

While I don't currently own all of the products in the Dona bath and body line, I think it would be interesting to try a few of them at the same time. For instance, it makes me wonder how great I would smell if I were to use the Dona body wash and follow it up with this wonderful body butter.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Feels natural
    • Long lasting

Packaging

The Dona body butter comes in the 4 fl oz plastic tub. To open the container, all you have to do is grip the textured cap and twist. The container isn't overly strong, but did not bust open when I dropped it. Additionally, as long as you screw the cap on well enough, the container shouldn't leak.

I feel completely comfortable leaving the product out on display. The only issue that some people may have is that the label does say "an aphrodisiac infused ritual". Personally, I didn't find this to be a big deal; however, if you are uncomfortable leaving this out in the open, the product is easy to store.

    • Does not leak
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Would make a nice gift

Special Features

As mentioned, the product is infused with aphrodisiac. Additionally, it is natural, cruelty free, and paraben free.
