Use

System Jo's newest aphrodisiac-infused and natural bath and body care product line is cruelty, paraban and petro. derivatives free. Included in this line is the Dona Body Butter. Much thicker and creamier than your average body lotion, body butter is a godsend for dry, chapped skin that needs a bit more moisture. Apply liberally all over the body to soften elbows, knees and everything in between. Because this is a fragranced product and may contain trace amounts of (plant) glycerin, keep it away from your nether regions.

The ingredient list on the Mangosteen Body Butter is:
Purified Water, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Oil, Caprylic Capric Triglycerides, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Saccharide Isomerate, Cetearyl Olivate, Cetyl Palmitate, Sorbitan Palmitate, Sorbitan Olivate, Cannabis Sativa (hemp) Seed Oil, Beeswax, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Olea Europeae (Olive) Fruit Oil, Passiflora Edulis (Passion Fruit) Seed Oil, Oriza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Euterpe Oleracea (Acai) pulp Oil, Orbignya Oleifera (Babassu) Seed Oil, Maltodextrin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Beta Glucan, Panthenol, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein, Allantoin, Aloe Barbadensis leaf Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) seed oil, Laminaria Digitata (Algae) Extract, Theobroma graniflorum (Cupuacu) Butter, Garcinia Mangostana (Mangosteen) Fruit Powder, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Though not quite as thick as some body butters, the Dona Body Butter is much thicker than your average body lotion. I find the thickness to be quite similar to chip or vegetable dip. The product does move around a bit in the tub, so be sure to close the lid tightly, otherwise you will end up with a mess.

Because of its thickness/creaminess, only a small dab is needed per body part. It doesn't run down skin, rubs in easily and doesn't leave a greasy feeling.

Taste / Aroma

To me, the Mangosteen body butter smells like I'm sitting on a beach drinking a citrusy, tropical fruit smoothie (mango, papaya, pineapple, etc). It smells very good and yummy. The product smells rather strong in the tub and on the skin at first. If you are very sensitive to scents, I would stay away from this product. The scent does linger for some time, but after several hours, it fades quite a bit and only the faintest hint can be smelled on the skin.

Though this may smell good enough to eat, it is for external use only, do not ingest; I did not taste this, neither should you.

Performance

The Dona Body Butter is thick enough that only a small dab is sufficient for most body parts. It rubs in easily, however it does feel a bit sticky/tacky at first. This feeling doesn't last long, though. The product absorbs fairly quickly and leaves skin soft, supple and sweetly scented.

I applied this to my hands and it kept them soft even through two hand-washings. After that, I needed to reapply the product. It kept the rest of my body soft all day and I did not need to reapply it.

Packaging

Dona Body Butter comes in Eden's typical clear, plastic bag used to ship liquid products. The jar itself holds 5 oz, has a black screw off lid and a bright pink label with a black lace print over top. The label lists the product name, scent, brief instructions and bears some small symbols declaring the product natural, cruelty free, etc. On the bottom of the jar is another label with the ingredient list and address for System Jo.

Other than stating that this is part of "an aphrodisiac infused ritual", the packaging is very discreet and non-offensive. It would not receive much attention if left out in the open and would make a lovely gift.

Experience

I'm usually not a fan of body lotions/butters other than hand cream, but I'm rather impressed with the Dona Body Butter. The Mangosteen scent smells wonderful, fruity and very tropical. Though it is a bit tacky after first application, it quickly absorbs into my skin and leaves me feeling soft and supple all day. It seems a little expensive for its size, but it's a quality product and I can't wait to get some of the other scents. I would definitely recommend this product to others (as well as most of the other Dona items).
Follow-up commentary
I still like this body butter and I've since picked up another one in Blue Lotus. Sadly, the Blue Lotus body butter smells a bit different than the other items I have in the same scent and is extremely headache inducing. It is also much stickier than the Mangosteen one and takes forever to absorb (plus the scent lasts much longer... which is definitely a negative being that it makes me so sick). However, I am interested in getting this body butter in the Camu Camu. I definitely prefer that scent over the others in this line that I've tried.

How long does it take before the sticky feeling of the butter goes away? Does it last all day or just for a few minutes?
  • Contributor: Apirka
@Peaches2000 The stickiness only lasts maybe a minute. Not very long.
