I wish I could post a "scratch & sniff" patch to this review!

Although the scents may be lighter than I would like personally, the will not usually interfere with other fragrances you might choose to wear. This works well alone, as a moisturizer, or as part of a layering program to experience the full fragrance throughout the day.

I like this so much, I have more on order.

Use

Thank you Eden Fantasys for being willing to bring in the complete DONA line. I see it coming onto the site piece by piece and get excited with each new addition. I am so delighted - and dismayed - that you finally brought in one of my favorite products - and biggest weaknesses...Body Butter.

Further on in this review, I will discuss body butters vs. body souffles and other types of moisturizers, so I'm going to be very brief here for where you should use this product. This product can be used externally anywhere on the body where you need additional moisture. This could be your heels, your elbows, your knees or your whole body! As long as you need to or want to moisturize that area of your body, then use this.

While you can use this at any time, it is best to use this directly after getting out of the bath or shower and lightly patting yourself dry. If there is still some water on your skin, the body butter can help to lock it in so you get the full benefits of both water and the ingredients in the body butter.

Speaking of ingredients, since I am going to be reviewing 3 different scents today, I encourage you to go to the product page and read the list of ingredients there.

I will share that a representative from DONA has stated to me that whenever you see glycerine in their products, it is from plant-based glycerine and not animal-based glycerine.

As always, you will want to spot test this on a small patch of skin to see if you have any reaction to it.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Technically, by its very definition, a body butter should be thick and rich. According to the definitions and descriptions of various types of moisturizers I've found in the past while doing research, body butters are supposed to have the least amount of water in them and the most amount of various "butters" and oils.

Something to consider is that the thicker the butter, the more effort it will take on your part to rub in, however, the longer it will last on the skin and keep moisture trapped inside.

In addition, many items I've come across that are labeled as "body butters" are more of a "body souffle" which is basically a whipped version of a body butter. This puts a bit of air into the butter and makes it creamier and easier to spread.

Imagine opening up a tub of butter and grabbing some out with your hands. That would be an example of the consistency body butter can be at its thickest. Now imagine opening up a tub of whipped yogurt, which is also fairly stiff but has the air whipped into it making it creamy. That is a great example of a body souffle. Opening up a container of whipped cream and trying to get some out would be a good example of a body creme or lotion or perhaps of a very whipped souffle that is lighter than some other brands of souffles.

Here are photos of all three of the butters that I have from DONA (so far). I have more of them on order.

The Pomegranate seems to be the thinnest of the three. It isn't thin - just thinner than the others in consistency. It does spread easily.

Goji berry is the middle texture of the three as far as consistency. It spreads well also.

Camu Camu is the thickest of these three butters and it has a "waxy" feel to it. My husband insists that he can smell coconut in it when I open the jar and have him check for top notes. I, however, mainly smell a waxy scent. This butter is a bit harder to spread because it is thicker than the other butters. It also seems to take it a bit longer to sink into your skin - perhaps 10 minutes instead of 2 or 3 minutes. However, it lasts a long time and my skin feels super-soft afterwards. It still feels soft up to 12 hours later and makes me wonder if I should reapply it.

Taste / Aroma

Scents are so hard to describe because two people can smell the same product and yet pick up on different notes in the fragrances. For instance, I can open the Camu Camu and smell it. To me there is a tiny bit of a coconut smell, maybe, along with a waxy scent. My husband says, "You can't smell the coconut?". My daughter smells it and crinkles her nose and goes, "Smells like sunscreen".

Both my husband and I picked up on the fruity notes in the pomegranate but my daughter sniffs it and goes, "Can't you pick up that toasted sugar scent as you first open it and sniff?" I didn't pick up on that until she pointed it out but it is there.

When it came to the goji berry, it is just so hard to describe. I can smell a floral scent but my daughter says it is a soft, sweet bland scent. My husband's reaction is one of "not for me...too powdery".

One thing we all agree on is the fact that the scents are not "bad" scents and they aren't "overpowering" scents. The pomegranate butter has the strongest scent upon opening the jar and the goji berry is the second strongest in scent.

Performance

All three of the butters performed admirably. Since the pomegranate and goji berry butters were not as thick as the camu camu, I found that I could have applied them again 8-12 hours later. The Camu Camu butter really didn't need to be applied 12 hours later, but I did so because I was going to bed and didn't want to sleep all night without some body butter on me.

What I like best about these butters is how well they layer with the other products - not only in the same line of aphrodisiacs but also other products I like to use. For instance, I used the pomegranate body butter with some of my Simply Sensual Ginger Pomegranate bath products. I've used other fragrance sprays with these products and even other perfumes with them and I find that they don't clash but instead add another layer of a soft scent to whatever I'm wearing. I am pleased at the way I can combine them with some of my other favorite products.

Packaging

The body butters come packaged in 5 ounce jars with twist-off lids. I haven't yet taken any photos of the packaging next to something but let me give you size comparison with other products here on Eden Fantasys. The Not Soap Radio body souffle is 8 ounces. Remember that as a souffle, it is a bit more creamy and may take more to cover the same size area as a body butter.

The Simply Sensual body butter is 7 ounces. It is possibly a bit thicker than these body butters and the scent is stronger and lasts a bit longer - however, you have to like a spiced pomegranate scent to enjoy this as it has ginger and pomegranate in the fragrance notes.

The Booty Parlor "Flirty Little Secret" body butter is also 5 ounces. It is about the same thickness as the Camu Camu but is much more expensive (more than twice the price). I remember this because I just ordered a second jar so my daughter could have some for herself. It has a blackberry/honey scent that is very rich and also stays longer than the DONA products (and may interfere with other scents you're wearing).

The Venus Spa is an 8 ounce container. It is more of a souffle but has a very light scent (the particular one I have is peach) and the scent smells great in the jar and ok when it is on - but it might interfere with other fragrances that you choose to wear.

With the versatility of this product and how well I can mix it with other product lines, if I wish, I think that the 5 ounce jar is a fair amount of product for the current price you are paying.

Special Features

I would like to note that while this product can be used alone, it is designed to be part of DONA's 5 step ritual for taking care of yourself and your body. You can use this product with other brands and it will still be effective. You can also use it alone and it will still moisturize. However it is designed to be part of a ritual to pamper yourself.

The five steps are:

2. Cleanse - "to purify your body using luxurious lathers, exfoliaters and gels

3. Nourish - "to make your skin touchable and kissably soft"

Personal comments

It is important to note that when you look at these products, you understand that what are you are seeing when you read "camu camu" or "goji berry" or "pomegranate" are NOT the scents of the products themselves. These are the aphrodisiacs that are in the line of products. The scents may be different from what you are expecting if you are expecting camu camu to smell like a citrus fruit or pomegranate to smell like other pomegranate products you've tried before.

Be sure to read all reviews closely - and don't hesitant to ask those of us reviewing this line to describe the scent. Also - remember that each product has three "notes" of fragrance - the top notes which you smell instantly, the middle notes which come later and then the bottom notes which you smell much later on. Each of these notes may be different.

In addition, how the product smells on you may very well be different than how it smells on your partner, friend or anyone else. Due to body chemistry, that is true with any perfumed item.

Awesome review as always! I ordered the Camu Camu but it isn't here yet. I think it's great that it's thicker because I plan on using it on elbows and knees.
