The only kind of butter I want to rub all over my body!

Dona body butter blew me away with it cheap price and high quality and performance. My experience with these products is limited, but this one has provided some superb moisturizing and healing for my skin. This is a much better option than spending a lot more on other high end products from professional brand names.

Use

With so many lotion and moisturizer products on the market it is very hard to find what's right for you. Dona body butter is more suited for someone who is looking for a thick, creamy and rich deep moisturizing product. This is a much heavier kind of moisturizer that will stay on the skin for hours. This product is great to use on the driest of dry skin especially if you live in a dry region. Because of all this I find that this product is best for that purpose, for people with very dry skin. If you don't normally have extremely dry skin, this is still a nice product to use on elbows or other places that will generally always be dryer and form more cracks in the skin.

Using it is very easy, simply remove the twist off lid and lightly dab your finger into the butter allowing a small amount to adhere and rub gently into the skin. Because of the richness you may find it harder to spread than a thin and watery lotion, using small amounts is recommended. For massaging I have found this product harder to use for this purpose because of the thickness. Most users should be fine with this body butter with the all natural ingredients, however there is glycerin in this product. I would suggest doing a test patch on your skin to test for any reactions.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

I'm not well versed in the area of body butters, but it is my understanding that this particular one is fairly thin for a body butter. In one case I saw a body butter that was as thick as a stick of butter at room temperature. This actually reminds me more of a very thick body lotion. It goes on fairly well on the skin, it takes a bit of effort to spread it around, at first it feels greasy and takes a few minutes to really absorb into the skin. I find it easy to wash my hands afterwards in warm water and wipe them with a towel. This removes any greasy feeling off of my hands.

After applying, you can feel the butter on your skin for a good 30 minutes usually because it's not as noticeable, but its not uncomfortable or greasy at this point. If you use this right before sliding into bed, be warned that it will rub off of your skin and into the sheets leaving behind the smell. In the container it is fairly thick and steady, you can hold it upside down and nothing will come out. I have found on warmer days I do not like the feel of this product, it seems better in cooler temperatures where I am not sweating. As far as what it looks like, its a off-white creamy color, I do not notice any other features in the butter.

Taste / Aroma

While available in 6 aromas, I chose the pomegranate as I have been enjoying this one a lot. In the body butter the pomegranate seems to have more higher notes of sweet and floral. Not too heavy on the floral, but I can sense it, however I seem to notice more of the sweet and savory notes. Much like a berry blend, not tart or sour, but sweet. Overall in the container it is fairly strong and once it goes on the body it starts to dissipate a bit. However if you apply it quickly to the whole body, it is very strong and can be overpowering for a short while. The nice part is in some cases I have found that the aroma stays on my skin for up to 8 hours. This is mostly noticeable when applied right before bed, when I wake up I can very lightly smell the body butter. Overall it does not have an unpleasant, chemical, or lotion smell to it that I could pick up on.

Performance

I can't really compare this to other body butters out there but I can say this product by Dona blows away any lotion that I have ever used. Living in the Midwest, especially in winter it can be eso xtremely dry that your skin starts looking like a snakeskin. I have used this body butter during the driest parts of winter and it has always provided amazing moisturizing results and rejuvenated my skin. My dry cracked skin that becomes soft and healthy looking is thanking me for this product. While it is a small 5oz container I barely have to use this to get the results I want, a very small amount goes very far.

Personal comments

Even though I am not experienced in different types of body butters, I can say this is a great product for someone looking for a not so thick and well performing body butter. I think it is well worth the money and even more so with a coupon. Honestly I don't see why I would pay $30+ for some fancy super thick body butter from a beauty shop in a mall when I can get this product that works just as good, if not better. I just wish they had 1 or 2 more scent options, perhaps an unscented and maybe one more for men, that isn't so fruity or floral like.

Experience

Before using Dona body butter I was using a basic watery style body lotion and it was not doing me any justice. During the winter months my skin was getting bad and I decided to try Dona body butter. I am actually glad it isn't as thick as butter as it makes it easier to spread. But it was to the point where my arms, elbows, hands where getting the white dry cracked skin appearance. After just one week of daily use of Dona body butter my skin had almost returned to normal, and with regular application I can now keep on top of dry skin problems.
Follow-up commentary
I really still love this body butter; it works such great wonders on my not-so-good skin type. I have found it harder to use during this hot summer heat wave we have been experiencing. My option for this is just applying at night after a shower, but I still require something lighter during the day when it’s hot out. This is the one major flaw I could find in this product; otherwise, it's perfect for me.
