The Interns by New Sensations - review by Tuesday

This movie is the first title in New Sensation's Sappho series of lesbian porn. The movie was made to appeal to lesbians. Directors consulted lesbian blogs and forums to learn what lesbians want to see in porn.

The sets, camera work and clothing in this movie were excellent. There were a few moments in the first scene when it seemed that the audio of the movie wasn’t quite right however.

Lesbian porn is my least favorite type. This movie still could have been good for me if there were just a bit more variety, for example if strap-ons or other toys were used or if there were more G-spot stimulation or if anyone squirted. You will find none of these things in this movie. But if the lesbian media the directors used for research didn’t lead them to include elements such as these, who am I to say they are needed?

THE MOVIE

Scene I - Samantha and Stephanie
The movie begins with Samantha and Stephanie discussing Stephanie's fashion sketches. Samantha promises Stephanie an extensive spread in a prestigious magazine, even though she doesn’t have the authority to do so. When Stephanie leaves the room to bring in more designs for review, Samantha spills wine on herself to have an excuse to take her clothes off. Once the clothes are off, she immediately climbs on top of Stephanie who seems to welcome the sudden change of plans.

Samantha appears to be able to come just from humping Stephanie’s leg. Both women are too vocal for my tastes. There is plenty of humping, cunnilingus and 69 in this 31 minute scene.

Scene II - A work meeting at Haute Couture Magazine
The boss, Julia Ann, is a take charge woman who accepts no excuses as she works out details of the magazine’s Fall Collection with Zoe, Violet and Samantha. Julia Ann, is somewhat reminiscent of the boss in The Devil Wears Prada in that she takes charge, gives orders and appears to be a strict boss.

In the hallway after the meeting, Zoe and Violet pose as Ruth and promise a model, Charlie, a cover and $10,000, something they clearly don’t have the authority to offer. It seems there is to be no scene without a bit of cattiness.

Scene III - Photo shoot
Charlie and Sarah pose for a photo shoot. Afterwards the photographer tries to come on to Charlie, who rebuffs her, mentioning that she will be on the cover. The photographer bursts Charlie's bubble about what the intern's promise to her. Covers are chosen by the best photo. The photographer then turns her attention to Sarah. Charlie, not happy with this, begins massaging and making out with Sarah during her photo shoot. The photographer encourages them to disrobe each other. This progresses into an active and vocal threesome with numerous postions and combinations. We are halfway through the movie by the time this scene ends.

Scene IV - Samantha in Julia Ann's office
In this scene, Julia Ann discusses with Samantha a possible move to a columnist position, a job which will require her to handle confidential matters. Samantha swears she would do anything to get the new position. Julia Ann then asks Sam to teach her to be sexy so she can seduce her husband, who she thinks is cheating on her. In my opinion, she needs no lessons in this. Sam suggests that she start by trying on the new lingerie samples. Julia Ann has very nice full figured body. Stephanie also suggests she use the same dominance in the bedroom that she uses in meetings. She is initially reluctant, but eventually gets into the hang of dominating.

They proceed into slow undressing of each other and caressing that is really erotic. Theirs is a more sensual erotic scene with a somewhat slower pace than the previous scenes. Samantha's chest turns red during her scenes but this could be from the exaggerated breathing rather than actual responsiveness.

Scene V - The restroom
In this scene, two women talk about Julia Ann and Samantha 'working late' at the office and Samantha's rapid promotion. Lies are shared about Samantha. This scene appears to be for the benefit of sequels to this movie.

Scene VI - An apartment
A despondent woman watching TV answers the door to the intern who was spreading lies in the previous scene. The two women allude to plans to take Samantha down. Here we learn that the woman telling the stories in the bathroom was lying. The scene proceeds to sex. What else? Both women enjoy pouring champagne over each other. At least this couple aren't screamers. They seem to really enjoy what they're doing.

Scene VII - Ruth’s apartment
Julia Ann stops by to ask for Ruth's discretion concerning matters of the office and her support if legal matters arise. She is willing to give Ruth a promotion. Ruth wants her own office, a bigger title than Sam and to be Julia Ann’s escort to all company functions. Julia Ann readily agrees. Her tough as nails attitude vanished as soon as the work meeting in scene II was over. Ruth also wants to know what Julia Ann did to make Samantha scream through the office walls. Julia Ann supposedly shows her but actually Ruth is the one driving this scene which lasts about a half hour.

The movie ends with Samantha calling her apparently seriously ill female lover, who is sick in bed. Samantha stresses to her that she'll do whatever it takes to get them through their situation and pay off bills. I guess this is supposed to explain why she slept with Julia Ann? Then why did she sleep with Stephanie if she’s in a relationship? Or is the ill woman her sister or other relative? Maybe these are questions that are too deep for a porn movie.

More effort was put into the plot of this movie than is usually seen in porn movies. I’m just a little bothered by the fact that half of the cast are portrayed negatively. The movie might have been made for women but it doesn't portray women in a positive light. Still, if you're into girl on girl action, I think you'll like this movie.
