A Handy-Dandy Guide to Penis Pumps: For Men
As I mentioned in Part 5 of this guide; Dr Joel Kaplan is the granddaddy of the pump movement. He popularized "male enhancement" through the use of a pump, taking it from the freaky fetish fringe into the mainstream. You can see that he has put some thought into the products he produces.
The original Male Enlargement package is another kit setup, like the one above. It comes with several add-ons for your pumping pleasure. The kit includes the usual; a plastic vacuum chamber (this one is a superior acrylic one-piece molded model) and a pistol-grip handle pump mechanism. The add-ons include an easy to read industrial grade pressure gauge, an adjustable leather cock ring and a mini packet of lube. The package also provides thorough instructions on how to use the product.
This device also features the more sophisticated coupling device that locks the male (hose) and female (cylinder) ends together. The release valve is easy to find. It's located below the gauge at the point where the tubing attaches to the pump mechanism.
What I like about this pump:
- I liked the cylinder very much; it is top of the line, made of medical grade acrylic, and tapered at the top. It compliments the shape of a guy's dick. It is also the longest cylinder (9.75") I've received for review. This is important for the big boys among us.
- I really like the pressure gauge. It's smaller than some, but still easy to read.
- The advanced coupling device that locks the male (hose) and female (cylinder) ends together is state of the art.
- I was really impressed with the instructional pamphlet included in this kit. It is the only pump device I reviewed that came with one. This is a big plus in my book.
- The adjustable leather cock ring is substantial and a very nice add on.
- It probably doesn't sound like much, but the addition of the mini-packet of lube was a very nice touch. More pump packages should include lube. Not every user knows how important lube is for safe and satisfying pumping.
- I really liked the way the device disassembles for easy cleaning.
What I didn't like about this pump:
- The pistol-grip handle pump mechanism is made of a surprisingly cheap plastic. It was weird, because I can see how much thought went into this package. Why Kaplan uses such a crummy pump mechanism is beyond me. Maybe he expects his customers to upgrade to a better-quality pump mechanism when this one fails.
- The plastic pump handle became very slippery and hard to use if I had any lube on my hands at all.
- The packaging says that "Erection Enhancing Bands" are included. I know what Kaplan's referring to; I saw them on his website. Unfortunately, none were included in the package I received.
- There was no jelly-like donut insert, or stimulation sleeve included in this package.
